the player won't turn on just the blue ring around the thumbwheel

just a blue ring arounf the the thumb wheel... it keeps saying batttery is dead but i charged it for a whole day

  • Anonymous Apr 22, 2009

I pulled the Sansa out of my pocket and turned it on without looking, a moment later I looked at it to go through the music and I realised that only the blue backlight to the wheel was working, the screen just would not turn on. I plug it into the computer using the USB cable that came with the Sansa and i get no reaction from the computer or the mp3.
    Any help?

Once you unplug it from your computer, there is a switch on the left hand side, slide it up and hold it until your device turns on

My sansa view won't turn on, the blue ring illuminates but that is all it does

Alright it seems your sansa is on its way out. I had to essentially mash on the center keypad while holding the power button in the on position before it finally worked. Be prepared to buy a new one, mine only lasted for 2 weeks after it started doing that

I have a 8gb sansa view and up until 2 days ago it would come on

Recovery for the Sansa View is described on the Sandisk site in 3 steps:

1. Reset the device:
The reset is meant for switching the player off completely, before going to the recovery mode.
2. Force recovery mode:
Recovery mode is meant for recognizing the player on the computer and making backups of files from player to the computer, before clearing the device while updating it to the latest firmware.
3. Update to the latest firmware:
Updating the firmware is meant for completely erasing the players' drive and putting new software on it back again.

As you follow the instructions of the last step you'll require the "Sansa Firmware Updater".
It can be downloaded with the next link:

My 8 gb sansa

Does the charging sign show up? It could be a bad cable. Also make sure you have the right software You can get it here at:
Go to Support\product support\sansa view\ thenlook in the right column

Try it with different usb ports as well.
Go to Device Manager and look for "?'s" or "!'s"

Sansa view 8 gb

I think I have a solution. If you're using Windows Media Player like you're supposed to, click the sync button in the top menu bar. if it says click here to sync device slick there and it'll pop up a menu telling you to name your Sansa and click ok and you should be good to go.
