Brake light switch problem may cause the ESP / BAS lights to illuminate.
Common symptoms of a bad
Mercedes brake light switch.
Car stuck in Park.
ABS ESP ETS lights come on.
Can not move the shifter from Park to Drive.
Brakes Defective Warning on Instrument Cluster
Car won't shift gears. Stuck in 2nd gear, limp mode.
Brake lights don't work. (Brake light switch can still be defective even if the brake lights work. Checking the brake light operation is not a good test.)
ESP, BAS, ABS lights turn on. Car won't shift properly. Stuck in gear.
TEST: To test your new brake light switch: Turn you car off to reset the ABS light. apply the parking brake. and start the car in neutral or park without using the brake. if the problem is the brake light switch... the light will only come on when you press the brake pedal.
If you replaced the brake light switch and the light is still on you should check a few other things such as:
Fuses and Relays
ABS pump
ABS wheel speed sensor
Brake Fluid Level
Get an advanced scanner to read trouble codes.
NOTE: ** You may need a MBZ scan tool to reset the error code which was stored in the ECU because of the bad brake light switch.
hi i would check the abs module its located on the abs pump it controls the speedometer and can also bring lights on the dash eg abs &the brake warning light
if a diesel which i suspect it is then check the air filter is clean ,check the rubber hose to the manifold for collapsing ,other than this then ask a local mechanic to have a look if an older vehicle if a modern direct injection type then take to a bosch authorised agent .If a petrol engine then again ask a local mechanic as it could just be a faulty temperature sensor causing the vehicle to run on choke
Firstly, when starting the car, ALL warning lights should illuminate briefly - this is a self test to ensure these systems are working ok. When the Engine Check light remains illuminated, then a fault has been detected.
Code P0011 can be triggered by the following issues: Improper camshaft timing, wiring problems, continuous oil flow to the VCT piston chamber, faulty timing valve solenoid.
Due to the possible causes above, only an authorised Volvo service agent will have the correct scanning/diagnostic tool to identify where the problem lies.
I recommend you have the service agent carry out a further diagnostic...
Your vehicle's OBD computer monitors all your vehicle's electrical emission circuits.
Each time you turn your key, the computer considers this 1 x drive cycle.
When a fault (or out of spec) condition occurs, this will register a fault code in the computer's memory. Some circuits will only trigger the Check Engine Light (CEL) after the same fault occurs a few times. Other circuits will trigger the CEL with just one fault detection.
In the same manner, if the fault condition is only intermittent, the computer may consider the condition recitified, if that fault does not occur after several drive cycles (i.e. the CEL will no longer light up).
The only way to have this resolved is to arrange for your local Mercedes dealership (or authorised service agent) to connect their factory SCAN TOOL.....and read your computer's stored fault codes.
These fault codes will quickly identify the suspected circuits (eliminating unnecessary garage labor costs), allowing quick diagnosis & repair.
Note: Mercedes Scan Tools operate on a different communication protocol. Typical scan tools designed for American & Japanese vehicles use a different protocol, therefore, I recommend this be done only by a Mercedes agent (or European service specialist).
The process of scanning for fault codes only takes 15-25mins (depending on the technician's experience), hence should not cost you much to have this procedure performed.

every time that light stays on it means that the ABS sistem is disabled...if theres a problem with the sistem it disables itself for safety...so you need to take the car to have it checked and figure out what is wrong, that light is there to let you know theres a problem and now the sistem is disabled so u need to have it scanned and diagnosed. hope this helps
hello, good day,try to clean your abs sensor and rotor, apply with wd 40 then cean with compress air, also check electrical connection, for your radio please recheck the power supply specially the parking light wiring,ty
you should be able to pulse the pump in actuator tests you can test the signal at the same time.your cruise wont work if the abs isnt working it takes the readings from the wheels, check your power and earths at the pump.
