I am trying to connect my Dell Vostro 1400 to a Samsung S24B350H monitor. I am connecting them with a RGB cable, but nothing is coming up on the monitor. It keeps telling me to check my connection. The monitor is brand new, so I imagine I am either connection them incorrectly or there is an issue with the Dell?

Recently I purchased an Vostro 1310 for my mother as her Inspiron 1100 was dying; I installed all the drivers everything was peachy but frustratingly enoguh I could not connect to our home modem -
I alleviated this issue by taking it off obtain ip address automatically.
Then I put the following data in
IP 10.0.0.3
Subnet 255.255.255.0
Gateway 10.0.0.138
DNS preffered 10.0.0.138
Alternate Blank
I had to assign the laptop an IP as you can see and point it in the right direction which was to my modem. So all you need to do is find his modems default path and it should be sweet.
After I applied these changes it had no issues connecting - It might be a conflict of ip assigning on the network.
Before you rate get back to me if it didn't work - I want to help you solve this issue and get a Fix Ya! rating ;)

If the Vostro doesn't read the signal automatically try to switch the signal from internal to external using the Fn (function) key + one of the F keys above the number keys. This key is usually F4 but may be different for yours. Also, make sure the input is correct on the tv....

No, it's probably because you have setup a wireless home network with security in place.
Go through the settings on your husband's notebook settings for your home network and set your Dell up the same way. You will need to know the SSID for the wireless network, security type and key to set it up.

I had the correct cable, the RGB one as stated. All it was, was I had to change the multiple display settings under NVIDIA Control Panel, on the laptop.
