WHEN I OPEN MY CAMERA THERE IS A WORD E18.

Hi,

Canon E18 error shows when the lens gets stuck while trying to extend.
  • This error indicate that focusing ring got stuck or jammed due sand, dust, may be due to external shock caused by dropping the device. try compressed air. With a fine tip blow off gun around lens barrel. It should remove all dust and sand. Turn the camera on this will solve the problem.
  • You can gently bump the camera to try to free the focusing ring.
  • You can try to turn camera ON at the table (facing it to the ceiling), don't put camera down face to the floor when opening.
If motor is running but lens won't retract sometimes lens would slip off with the gear or break off a tooth in the gear when it gets dropped. Try to gently move the lens barrel around with the finger and see if it is moving, but if tooth or gear is broken lens will move once or twice then it will stuck again.

Else your camera need to be disassembled to get at the focusing ring at Service Center.

Thanks and have a nice day

Camera lens cover won't open when you turn the camera on. Says "power off then on" but still stuck

This kind of problem occurs if camera dropped on floor that broke lens mechanism OR lens mechanism got dust particles that make it stuck.
Usually lens mechanism needs to be replaced to solve the issue, however, user level try to solve the problem is to tap camera on your palm a few time gently that may release stuck lens mechanism and it start working again, if that does not help then lens assembly will be replaced.
Thanks.

My Sony DSC-W230 turns on and lens keep opening and closing, and then it shows "turn power off and on again". how do i fix this ?

This sounds like a stuck lens. Here is a good blog about things to try to fix it:
http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/fixing-lens-error-on-digital-camera.html
The blog is about a lens error, but when the camera lens opens and closes, there is often a problem with the lens.
Also make sure the battery is fully charged, and good. Also make sure the contacts are clean on the battery, and also inside the camera.
If all fails to get it working again, get an estimate on repair first, since the cost can justify just going ahead and buying a new camera.
Good luck, and hope this helps.

Lens stuck open on Lumix DSC-TZ5

This is a common problem when something goes wrong with the lens system.
This can be as a result of numerous problems.
Try to pull the lens as turning on and also gently twisting it in and out...just may make the lens go back on track.

Lens stuck open

I have to agree with one of the comments previously posted. I too had a Sony DCS-S700 and the lens was stuck open. Whenever I turned the camera on, the Sony Cybershot logo appeared and dissappeared, turning the camera off. I noticed the lens was crooked, so I moved it in the center direction and the camera worked again.

Stuck

Could it be that there is something stuck in the lens barrel? Possibly grit of some sort? I would suggest pushing the lens in gently until the front shutter closes, then try to power on again, if this works and the barrel extends try to inspect for dirt in the barrel and get it out.
