HDMI (High Definition Media Interface) is just a specific kind of interface, a connection type and can't really influence color.
No knowing which interface you are using, it's hard to make any suggestions but some connection types can suffer from an impedance mismatch which can cause color problems.
Sit down with your manual for each of these to see which kinds of connections you have that are common to both and try others you have to see if another type can improve the color problem you have.

How do I burn files to a disk to play in DVP3140

I'm assuming you're using a recent-build Windows PC. Here's the link from Microsoft: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/burn-a-cd-or-dvd-in-windows-media-player. Media player must be recent enough in version to burn disk media--otherwise, you must obtain a software product that will burn media for you. Your PC must also be equipped with a CD, DVD, or Blu-Ray burner. CD-R disks easily prove available from discount stores, music stores, electronics stores, or online.

As for compatibility, Phillips indicates that CD-R is compatible. I hope that you don't have a problem. That depends upon the media manufacturer and how its product interacts with the Phillips. Compatibility likely won't prove a problem. Certainly, check that out before the next trip....

A Sony RDR-GX210 DVD player I can play a CD - no problem but when I try a DVD, the TV screen says - ''loading please wait'' and then it drops back to the TV picture witha message - ''Can't play this disc''...

Hi Allan,

When you get no disk error, that is usually because of a problem with the optical laser lens that is dirty, faulty or opaque, and will start operating on certain disks better than others.

In that case you will hear disk spinning, whirring and clicking, but the TOC (table of content track at start of CD/DVD will not be read, therefore the error.

Whe this problem is starting you may be able to read only CD, DVD or Blue ray, or for example only DVD-R and not +R , or only to read and not to write and so on. After more prolonged usage , often the unit goes losing the rest of functions, and ends up not reading anything at all.

In your case the lens does not work on DVD , but only on CDs for the reasons above , that is quite common.

If instead there is no noise, and disk does not spin at all , then there is a faulty motor, or the motor micro-switch is bad. This situation is far less common than the lens problem.

Try first using a CD/DVD or Blue ray lens cleaner disk to clean the lens. If that does not work you will need to disassemble the drive , and clean lens directly with q tips and isopropyl alcohol, or to replace the CD/DVD lens, or the whole drive unit.
