Here is a link to a 43 page service manual. Unfortunately, doesn't have disassembly instructions!
(File is in a '.rar' archive. I used 7Zip to open it.)

My Canon iP3000 printer just stopped working as if unplugged from mains.

As with most modern electronics, your unit has a 'switched-mode' power supply and most are built well enough to outlast the warranty.
They are very efficient but the kind of service some parts (especially electrolytic capacitors) are subjected to adverse conditions.

If you want to try a DIY analysis, remove the housing from your unit and locate the power supply; if it is modular, you may have to open a second case (much smaller).
Power supplies are easy to identify since they are clearly a different animal than found on the main boards, being made up of coils and larger semiconductors than the other functions.

If you gain access, look for cylindrical components mounted perpendicular to the circuit board with a plastic foil jacket and an exposed aluminum top, there may be a lot of different sizes but these are the most likely failures.
Since they can burst when failing, the aluminum is scored in a 'Y' pattern to enable a more gentle bursting.

Check them closely and look for domed (bulging) tops. These are close to dying and typically no longer able to function as designed.

They vary in quality so replacements can be better (longer-lived) or worse.

Most techs will know which replacements are best and the cost difference is low and negligible.

Good luck-

Canon printer

Remove the print head and try powering it up. If it powers up, then your print head is shorted and will need cleaning or replacing.

My printer power wont turn on when i press button

Try removing your printer cartridges and then the print head from the printer. If the printer powers up with the print head removed, then the print head is either shorted or clogged. If it's shorted out then you will need a new print head (usually cheaper to just buy a new printer). If you can clean the print head without damaging it, sometimes it will work again. Usaully a good 24 hour soak in alcohol or a cleaning solution will work.

Printer won't start.. Working yesterday won't come on today... Plugged in and attached to computer??

Check the wall outlet.Plug something else and see working.Unplug the printer from power cord and wait 30 min. Then plug it.If not working there is a problem in power supply in printer.Look for service in your area.

Canon Pixma ip3000 flashing amber 6 times

If the 6 flashes are accompanied by an on screen message #5400, this is a "Service Call Error" code.

This code indicates the following;
Internal temperature error [5400]
The solution to this is the following part replacementl
- Logic board ***'y (QM2-1548) *1

*1: Before replacement of the logic board ***'y, check the waste ink amount (by service test print or EEPROM information print). If the waste ink amount is 7% or
more, also replace the bottom case unit (QM2-1205) or the ink absorbers (QC1-4222 / 4223 / 4224 / 4263 / 4264 / 4864 / 4221 / 4257) when replacing the
logic board ***'y.
[See Section 3-3. Adjustment / Settings, (6) Service mode, for details.]

Good luck!!!
