That large purple spot is telling you that you bought a TV with a defective light engine. The problem will just get worse.

SOURCE: JVC HD-70FH96 both HDMI problems

Have you been using a flashlight behind the TV. These TV's have a sensor that shuts off the unit when the rear cover is removed (by sensing light). You may have tripped this. I think you can fix this in the service menu somehow but I can't remember.

SOURCE: My tv screen is green

there is a code to reset the HDMI video, i think it is--hit Display on the remote, then sleep timer and video statice at the same time, then the number 2, then turn the tv off, after it shuts down all the way, turn it back on, should take care of it

SOURCE: Color fine with rca jacks but when using hdmi/component its not

There may be a number of problems that are causing your HD issues. They may exist in your TV, or in the box you use to tune your channels. Contact your cable or satellite provider and ask them to change out your box. If the condition still surfaces, then you need to have your TV checked. The component and HDMI jacks are both connected to the same electronics. This is why they are exhibiting the same problem.

Poor picture no color

OUCH! LARGE DARK SPOT IN CENTER IS NOT GOOD FOR PROJECTION TV. YOU BURNT THE TUBES. THE LOSS OF COLOR IS THE ROOT CAUSE SOUNDS LIKE A DEFLECTION CIRCUIT PROBLEM. THE TIMING FEEDBACK IS USED TO SYNC THE COLOR CIRCUIT. IF THE TUBES LIGHT WITHOUT DEFLECTION THEY BURN THE CENTER PHOSPHOR COATING INSIDE.

Screen has a area on left center area that is greener than the rest and apears the shape of a large ink blot

Do you have a speaker or some other electric device by the TV where the green spot is? If so remove it and if the spot is still there try playing a DVD and if it's still there unplug your TV for 5 min., plug the TV back in and if its still there your TV is the issue.

PINK/GREEN SHADOWS, LINES

Here is what I was able to find out about your problem from sony: This issue is usually caused by some type of nearby magnetic interference, such as unshielded stereo speakers placed too close to the TV. These spots can be small or large and will normally be red, green or blue, but sometimes appear purple or pink. They normally occur on the sides or corners of the screen, but can also appear in the middle. To resolve this issue, move any stereo speakers or other electronic devices away from the TV; a minimum of 2-3 feet is recommended. If the situation is not remedied immediately, unplug the power cord of the TV from the electrical outlet for 20-30 minutes; repeat this process one more time if the issue is not resolved the first time. If the issue is still unresolved, service may be required. The Sony® eService Web site at http://eservice.sony.com/ can assist you in obtaining service from a Sony Service Center or locating a Sony Authorized Servicer in your area. Hope this is helpful:)

Samsung 50" hdtv; picture going dark along a sharply demarcated band on screen

This really shouldn't be the normal life of the lamp inside your TV...plasmas are meant to last at least one full year, up to three depending on how many hours per day they are used (I'm sure you can figure out where on that scale your tv lies). It could be caused by magnetic field interference, most likely from a speaker sitting too close to the tv. The magnetic field that is produced by the speaker refocuses the color on the tv, causing dark spots; they can sometimes appear as red or purple tinted areas as well. Most of today's tv's (especially plasmas) and speakers are set up so as not to do this, however you can never really be positive that it will not happen. If you have speakers near your tv, move them at least a two feet away, but the farther the better. Unfortunately, there is no real fix for this problem unless you take the tv to a professional and see if they can de-magnetize that section of the tv. I hope this helps some...if you don't have speakers near your tv then I apologize for wasting your time! haha, at least you'll know for future reference though. Your best bet anyway is to return the tv back to where you bought it or call the manufacturer; if it's only 6-7 monthes old, it should still be under warranty. Good luck!!
