When my TV did this in the past it ended up being the color wheel. I had someone replace it and it worked fine. I asked it if had to be calibrated after it is installed and he said no. Also make sure the door switch is pushed down when you install the back bulb door. Sometimes this switch can go bad as well.
Go to website Encompass Electronics.com type in your model number it will list part and part number ,you can also look for Lamp on E-Bay Encompass 1-800-638-3328 Also ck Color Wheel remove lamp take a flash light to watch when you turn TV on see if the color wheel is turning if it is defective set will shut OFF. But most likely its your Lamp.
I just fixed this very same problem. The capacitors are
the problem. However, I think that if you have some minimal skills with
soldering, you can fix this yourself. You just need to take out the
system board, then the power supply parts are on the top right. The bad
capacitor(s) will be bulging at the top and possibly have some brown
stuff coming out. The ones that go bad are 1000microfarad, 10V, however
you can replace them with higher voltage. I got 35V caps from radio
shack for 1.59 each. You just need to solder out the bad ones and then
put the new ones in and solder. Remember that the negative end goes on
the side with the bold black part of the circle on the system board.
Then just cut off the extra ends of the capacitors. If you are capable
of doing this yourself, you will spend at most 6 dollars instead of
however much a technician costs.
You may have a colorwheel going bad. The bearings start going out and this is an indication of the failure. The colorwheel is located in the light engin e therefore you may want to get a qualified tech to look at it
Look for the computer processor inside the TV. It needs to be cleaned. A can of compressed air will work. The processor is overheating and causing the tv to shut off. Look for the small fan that is supposed to keep the processor cool then remove the dust.
