New Logitech QuickCam for my notebook, sound does not work(Mic)

My new Logictech V11.7 webcam the soud does not seem to be working. When I call on skype I can hear the other side but they cannot hear me. Built in mic on web camera does not seem to work sometimes the logitech webcam does not work and i dont get the message of 'video call' while opening some contact name in skype and sometimes it('video call) comes

    I am having the same problem with a Gigaware camera. I get a picture but the microphone is not detected.

Normal 0 See section A. Skype in the info below to setup the Audio & Video.
Also send this to your family and friends so they have there computer setup properly.
Web Camera’s have to be setup on the program they are to be used with. Just installing the camera on your computer does not set it up to broadcast on messengers or Skype.

Each program has Options that have to be setup in order for the Audio and Video to function properly.

A. Skype Setup:

After downloading and installing Skype (http://www.skype.com/intl/en-gb/download/skype/windows/beta/downloading/ ) set it up as follows:

  1. Go to Tools, then Options, and click on Audio Settings and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  2. Then click on the Video Settings.
  3. The camera if Installed Properly will come up and show a video picture.
  4. Then, on the bottom of the page click on Save.

The camera and audio should function properly. Your friends and Family will now be able to see and her to you.

B. Yahoo Setup:

After downloading and installing Yahoo Messenger (http://www.soft32.com/download_30.html ) set it up as follows:

  1. Go to Messenger at the top left and click on it.
  2. Next go down to Preferences and click on it.
  3. Next Calling and Devices on the right and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  4. Next go to the Test Audio section and (in blue writing) click on “Open the call setup assistant” and follow the instructions on the left window.

Go to Device Manager, Expand 'Imaging' folder and right click on your webcam text. 'Update driver' and use internet option.

Check your webcam is set to default in Skype
  • Start Skype.
  • On the Tools menu, click Options.
  • In the navigation pane of the Skype Options window, click Audio Settings.
  • Select your logitech device as the default microphone. For example, select Logitech + model#.( if it has mic )
  • In the navigation pane of the Skype Options window, click Video Settings.
  • Select your Logitech device as the default Webcam. For example, select Logitech + model #
  • Click Save.

    • Failing that check if you have the latest version of Skype

    MY Logitech quickcam notebook
    You may have to into the MSN Video and Audio Configuration utility and make it use the mic built into the webcam. It may be looking for audio input from another source, if this is the case, it won't work from the Cam itself.

    MIC audio not working
    first be sure that this web cam has a built in mic...after this be sure you do not have any other devices plugged ( microphones) after that just double click the volume icon on the tray system ( bottom right of the task bar ) and it will show you the volumes for all the devices...
    if you do not see one for the mic...just clic on options and select it from the list ...after it will be shown on the list ...be sure its not muted....gave it some volume and enjoy ...
    if all this are already done and it still not working ...run the call set-up from yahoo messenger and see if it is detected there ...and I will also look for you and leave ya a message on yahoo...

    QuickCam mic doesn't work
    I read another post that said to go to Logitech itself for up-dates. This I did......downloaded all new drivers, etc. (the disc that comes with the cam must be out of date !). Then when that was done, I went back on Skype and where you do a 'voice test' I was able to this time around to "choose" my webcam - this was not coming up before at all. So in doing that it activated the mic on the webcam and all was OK. We seniors are supposed to be savvy with the forever changing world of electronic devices today! (LOL)

    1. After you start Windows Live Messenger, expand the view by clicking on the square on top left next to the red X.
    2. Then on the Windows Live messenger window on the right side, click on “ “Show Menus.” And then click on “Show the Menu Bar”.
    3. Next go to the Menu Bar on right side, click on “ “Action.”
    4. Go to “TOOLS” and click “Audio and Video Setting” and follow the instructions.
    NOTE: You audio and video should work. Enjoy.

    When done both the Audio and Video will function properly so you can chat and see family or friends you are connected to.

    I have installed QuickCam Pro 5000.
    Your PC has a Sigmatel sound card (or a sound chipset designed by Sigmatel). You will want to choose the Logitech mic for the tuning wizard. What exact error are you getting? Please be more specific with OS being used, applications, etc.

    >ControlPanel
    >Sounds and Audio Devices
    >Audio
    >Sound Playback
    Click on drop down menu arrow.
    If there are two audio devices listed: Deselect current device; select second device.
