TOO FAR FROM BASE

I don't have this model but I have had two Siemens phone systems. Typically, when the handset says "Searching" it is trying to connect to the base station (the part actually connected to the phone line). This can happen if the handset is too far from the base station to connect to it wirelessly. It can also happen if the handset has become unregistered from the base station (or was never registered to begin with). If the distance issue is not the problem, look in your documentation for how to register the handset and give that a try.

Check cable conections from phone box on wall to base unit, make sure that the conectors are fully inserted. If possible plug a different phone into box to make sure that line is working. Hope this helps

Unfortunately the Unidens have a problem with batteries. Leaving it on the base for a long time without discharging it can lower the lifespan of a battery.

But your problem is that the it lost connections with your service provider. Turn off everything by unplugging the power only from all the devices. Turn on just your cable phone service box first and give it 5 minutes to connect. Then power on the phone. If you still have issues, you need to contact your phone service provider to make sure the box is connection.

Check your connections on hand set and base. Wiggle the handset on base to see if handset starts charging... If it does.. clean your connections or you have loose solder connections either in hand set or Base Unit.. Give that a try..

Hi.. Let me try to help you if I can... I'd like you to check a few things,

1) Open battery cover on handset & make sure that the battery pack is installed correctly, and not upside down. Also make sure the little wires that come from battery pack are plugged into the tiny jacks of the phone (usualy red & black wires) in handset is fully attached & pushed snuggly into the handset... and if No wires, check to ensure the part that does connect the battery to handset is not covered with a plastic film of tape or paper as right from a manufacturer they sometimes do that to preserve length of battery until product is sold to you..

2) Check the bottom of the handset phone, that sit in the cradle of the electric part of the recharger, and make sure there is nothing like plastic or paper covering the connections between the bottom of the handset and the charger. Make sure there is a full on connection for a full charge to the handset. As with some cordelss phones Ive had the red LED light will not come on if there is something blocking a full connection for a charge.. The red LED light on base, only comes on when the electricity is flowing into the handset. The slightest tilt not allowing handset a full charge, wont give it a FULL charge.

3) You say " NEW. Out Of The Box" I hope when you connected the battery pack into the handset, and made sure it was connected right, you then allowed handset to charge at least a FULL 12 -24 hours before trying to use your new cordless phone. as the batteries right out of the box, are rarely already fully charged when any cordless phone is bought and then it does need 12 - 24 hours for a FIRST FULL CHARGE...

If you can check all 3 of these questions, and let me know how things are back on this posting, if you stilll can not solve the problem after a full charge to battery, I may have some other ideas that can help.

If you are not too far away-not "out of range" then try rehoming/pairing the handset with the base unit. You probably need the phones together to do this. Your manual will explain how-it will have been done in the original setup.

The handset/base keeps a record of who it’s registered to. The base also keeps a record of how many handsets are registered to it.

Using the de-register function on the handset deletes the handset from the base (decrements the count) and deletes the base info from the handset. All this requires that the base and handset can communicate with each other.

To remove the base data from a handset when out of range of the base, press and hold the ‘end’ button and the ‘#’ button simultaneously until the phone beeps. It will now be de-registered from the base.

However, the base will still have this handset in it’s record.

To de-register all handsets from the base, remove power and the base handset. Press and hold the ‘flash/find hs’ button while applying power. Wait for the beep and release the button. The charge light will now flash. Sit any handset in the cradle. When the flashing stops, all handsets are inhibited from connecting.

However, the handset still appears to be connected to the base unit. Pressing talk will give an ‘Unable to connect’ message. To re-register the handsets to the base, you have to de-register the handset first with the two button method.

Of interest, pressing ‘*’ and ‘#’ on the handset while reconnecting the battery is suppose to reset the handset. Doing the same on the base unit puts you in some sort of diagnostic mode. Press speaker to exit.

One has to completely deregister all handset by pressing end and # keys together till complete de registration is shown on handset screen. if the de registration is not done as above stated method the hand set will not register will show connecting on hand set screen.

Apparently that one from Ebay looks nice but has issues (not uncommon). If you took it out of the box, charged it fully and its has garbled audio, then the handset or the base is defective, or both, but at least at this point you can get a handset to "communicate" with the base and the "in/use light turns on, when you try to access a line,correct? . If you get the "out of service" message when trying to "move" the "ebay" handset to the other base, it sounds as if the base station and handsets are "coded" and were married together at the factory and one handset won't interchange with anothers base. However, try this before you go the repair service route, or roll the dice with another fine product off EBay :). Unplug and power down both bases, the one from Ebay and your old one. Take the Ebay handset and set it in the charging cradle of your old base. Power up and wait three minutes. Plug dial tone in and give it a try. If it still says "no service" , and won't light the "in/use" light when you try to use it then it won't work with your base, or/and your old handset you lost is somewhere near and is still communicating with its base. Now if you lost your handset weeks ago, then the odds that it is still alive are pretty slim. But I have heard handsets in the warehouse beep for days til their battery dies. Check that you have the larger power adaptor connected to the base unit.
