There is a job in my print log that will not cancel and will not print hindering my printer from printing anything else. How do I get it off?

I've tried unplugging the printer from power and from the computer and I've restarted the printer. I cannot however restart my computer at this time because I have to print the results of a test that I really don't want to take over and cannot save the results.

SOURCE: Printer 966. Deleting Print Job stuck in Que

Sounds like a problem with the spooler.
Try to bypass the spooler when printing by right clicking on your printer and select "properties"

Select the "advanced" tab and select "print directly to the printer".
Hoepfully this should take care of it.

SOURCE: We are getting error code 004-332 Restart Printer

Hi

This error code on Dell 3100CN occurs when toner cartridges are not seated properly and/or are not properly locked in. Turn off the printer and unplug it. Now, you need to open the front door and pull out the drum. Try moving the carousel and check if it moves freely. While moving the carousel back and forth try adjusting the cartridges. try to unlock the cartridges and lock them again.

Now turn off the printer and turn it on after 1-2 min.s.

I've been using OKIDATE MICROLINE 320 PRINTER at work. I was printing something and I realized that I was printing the wrong page so to stop printing, I simply turned off the power and waited....

You would have to cancel the current print job from your computer for it to stop. Assuming you have access to a computer that is connected to that printer, you will have to find that printer by going to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes > Oki ML 320 then right click, select "See What's Printing" and cancel Current print job (I am also assuming you are using windows). I really hope this helps, if not add a comment clarifying your question, thanks.

I HAVE A LEXMARK 5690 AND THERE IS A PRINT JOB STRUCK IN THE PRINT QUEUE AND I CAN'T GET IT TO CANCEL. THE OTHER JOBS AFTER THAT WILL CANCEL BUT TO FRONT ONE IS STUCK. AND I CAN'T PRINT ANYTHING AND I...

1. Go to Start, Control Panel and Administrative Tools. Double click on Services. 2. Scroll down to the Print Spooler service and right click on it and select Stop. In order to do this, you need to be logged in as Administrator. At this point, no one will be able to print anything on any of the printers that are being hosted on this server.
3. Next you need to go to the following directory: C:\WINDOWS\System32\spool\PRINTERS. Delete all the files in this folder. This will clear all print queues (it’s a good idea to first make sure there are no other print jobs being processed on any of the other printers on the server because doing this step will delete those jobs also)
4. Now you can go back to the Services console and right-click and choose Start for the Print Spooler service!
You can also go to a command prompt and type net stop spooler or net start spooler to start and stop the service.

Printer stopped working after I cancelled a print job

Turn off your printer and completely unplug the USB cable (from both the printer and the computer). Next check if the stopped document or the later documents are in the print spooler queue. If you can cancel all documents from the queue, do so. Otherwise: from Start Run (or the command prompt)
type: net stop spooler [enter]
then type: net start spooler [enter]

This works in XP and older MS Operating Systems but I've never tried it in Vista.

If you only enter the first command, you need to reboot the computer and then take a long coffee break after logging in before trying to print again.

Unable to cancel print queue

You can cancel a print job from within Windows by going to Control Panel -> Printers and double-clicking on the appropriate printer. Right-click the print job you want to cancel and select Cancel from the context menu. Anything already sent to the printer will continue to print.

You can also cancel a print job from the printer by pressing Cancel on the control panel. This applies to whatever is currently printing.
(You may want to remove any paper from the paper tray first.)

Clicking the cancel print icon stops the job from continuing to spool, but whatever is still in the printer's memory will continue to print until exhaused or the job is cancelled from the printer's control panel.

Unable to cancel a job

Sounds like the printer spool is frozen.

Assuming you're using WinXP and logged in as an administrator (or with admin permissions)

START
Control Panel
Administrative Tools
Services

Locate the "Print Spooler"
Right click on this and choose "restart"

This will restart the print queue and will probably try to print the job again or delete it properly. If it tries to restart, just right click on the printer job and choose cancel again..

You may need to repeat but that should at least get you back up and running with other print jobs again.
