I assume you have tried codes 013, 014, 015 and 070 for Sharp TV. See codes here:

It can be very frustrating using these inexpensive universal remotes, sometimes you just have to get lucky with a code, just keep trying other codes, Zenith TV, Magnavox TV. You might happen on the one that works. Also, try another brand of universal remote, Wal-Mart has them for $10.

Try codes 003, 012, 024 or 066.

Google the model of remote and one of the links has the codes I ran in to them by accident .

We bought a Sylvania LC420ss8 HDTV.

Our current universal remotes would not work, I followed the advice on this site and got a Sony
RM- VL600 Sony Untergrated Remote Commander, use page 16 in the manual to teach the new remote off of the remote that came with the TV. It really works. I am happy with the tv and remote.
