SOURCE: I can't add tracks to any of the playlists that I've created!

Are you creating playlists with Musicmatch or are you creating them directly on the DJ?

Let's say you have a playlist on your DJ and want to add a track to it. First, play the playlist. While it is playing, go to Music Library, find the track you want to add, select it with the thumbwheel, one of your choices in the menu that comes up is "Add to Selected". Select "Add to Selected". Now when the DJ reverts back to the screen showing the track being played. Hit the thumbwheel twice. A menu comes up. Select "Save as Playlist". Name it. Then delete your previous version of the playlist. Your new version will include the track (or tracks) you added.
Okay, that answered your specific question, but let me tell you it is much easier to build and organize, and yes, edit and/or add to your playlists from musicmatch.
After loading musicmatch, up near the top is a button called playlists. On its menu, select Playlist Manager. The window that opens has buttons that will let you create new playlists or modify old ones. You can dock your dj and edit the playlists on it from here or build playlists and then Send them to Portable Device (your DJ) Fairly easy.

How to do playlist on the s100

Hi, You can do play list from your PC. By connecting your MP3 player to the PC through Usb cable..

Things You'll Need:

* Computer
* Media player
* Digital music files

Creating a playlist on your computer is an easy way to organize your music. Playlists allow you to organize music by different artists or different genres. More advanced playlists can even sort your music based on when it was added or how often you play a particular song. Creating a playlist is an easy task regardless of the media player you use to play your music.

Determine what songs you would like to add to your playlist.

Create a new playlist in your media player. Depending on your media player, this step will vary. There is usually a "Create Playlist" button that you can click to create a new playlist. In iTunes, this button is on the bottom lower left corner. In Winamp, click the "View" menu and select "Playlist Editor".

Select the songs that you want in your playlist from a new Windows Explorer window. If you are using a Macintosh computer, select the songs from a new Finder window. You can hold down CTRL to select multiple tracks. Drag and drop these selected songs into the new playlist you have just created.

Save the playlist you have just created. Most media players have a "Save Playlist" button. Other media players such as iTunes will automatically save the playlist for you when you first create it. In Winamp, click the "Manage Playlist" button in the bottom right corner. In the following context menu, click "Save Playlist". Name the playlist whatever you want and then choose where you want it to be saved.

Have a nice day....

Lost my manul for archos jukebox recorder 20 mp3 player/recorder & data storage

Go to the RockBox software site. RockBox is provided freely by an end-user created and supported group and is a wonderfully evolved software replacement for quite a few portable music-playing machines. Your Archos Jukebox recorder is long out of warranty, so there's NO downside in updating it by installing the most current version of RockBox. That will greatly extend the capabilities of your machine.

Then download the RockBox user Manual! That will be your new Archos JukeBox Recorder User Manual. You'll be able to select what you hear by one of two control strategies: File names or by Playlists. You'll be able to adjust playback sound in new and more powerful ways than just using the equalizer. Also it will allow you to control playback "pitch" or speed, so you can hear lectures or books at a higher playback speed. Human retention actually improves when playback speed is increased some. You can print out the RockBox pdf. format manual if you'd like or you can study it on line. Lots of choices.

Good luck with your "obsolete" Archos JukeBox. I actually prefer the earlier models which were powered by four rechargeable AA cells rather than those with the replaceable lithium battery. I know someone who ran one of these continually for more than a year to provide background music, plugged into a wall-wart charger and his sound system. Durable!

You must first install the driver, don't plug in the jukebox until you rdone with this, then install the dj explorer v2 and then connect your DJ. I really have had no problems whatsoever except I had to use virtual XP to mess with my playlist. email me if you have any problems.

Zen Xtra Error Message When Creating Playlist

The only solution I know of is to reformat the hard drive. It's pretty time-intensive, but it does work. I use Notmad to back up the playlists. Once restored, they all work, even the ones that had initially failed.

I've never had the problem on my 60GB Zen Xtra (non-upgraded hard drive), only with my 120GB, so my naive guess is that the problem may be caused by the machine somehow not handling the extra hard drive space properly.

Also, both times it's happened, I've seen a warning sign: I usually have a lot of stuff loaded into "selected music", and when I add another album or two it partially clears the selections. And it does so in a weird way: only a few selections remain visible, yet it keeps playing at least some of the now-invisible selections.

I'm starting to think it's time to switch players, and maybe get something I can put the Rockbox OS on.

How do you create a playlist?

Solution 1 In the Sansa drive in Windows Explorer select the songs that you want in the playlist. Right click and create playlist. You can do minimal playlist editing through the playlist file properties. Drag files to the references tab to add files.
There is a free playlist creator which creates playlists for each folder on the sansa player with one click. it is written in .NET and does not alter the music files (http://www.infosys.tuwien.ac.at/staff/cp/playlist_creator.zip).
There is also one written in Python that should work on both linux and Windows (http://people.ifm.liu.se/yohell/make_playlists.py).

Solution 2 Try Musicmatch Jukebox or MediaMonkey. Both of those should be able to create a music library using only files from the device. Then sort them by artist and album, and delete them from the library, deleting the files as well. Transfer new files to the device as files (MSC USB mode on the player), not by syncing. You can create a new music library on the fly if you've made extensive changes. It doesn't take much time. Playlists should not contain drive letters or folder names, so edit them in Notepad, unless you have an app that makes them on the fly (suggestions?).
You can keep your main database in MediaMonkey, and open the Sansa device (see the plus and click on it). You'll be able to delete files from there. But if you double click on a song on the Sansa device, the wrong song will play. Dunno why, but that's what happens on my computer. But deleting files works.

Solution 3 Rename all your tracks so artist (look for batch renaming feature in your software. Add example of freeware editor?), album and song name is in the file name. That won't be visible in the player, but can aid administration if you use the player in MSC mode.

Solution 4 A how-to for using Windows Media Player and syncing to make playlists can be found here.
added by thatsRich 04-08-06 - I was having trouble sorting on my Sansa m250 using drag and drop with basic file management for mp3s. After seeing this article, I tried Windows Media Player (version 10) and found that perfect for the job. Since you can drag mis-sorted files in the left pane, they "sync" in proper order.

Can I create a playlist with my RCA Pearl ?

You can no logner transfer playlists to this device - the playlist ability was linked to Microsoft's MusicMatch Jukebox Service, which was cancelled in October 2007, after this player was manufactured. This is one of the many reasons that this player is now obsolete.

Making playlists

yes you can create playlist using WMP11...
To create playlist using WMP
  1. 1. Click the Library tab. If you need to clear the List pane before beginning to create your playlist, click the Clear List pane button playing_i_clearlistpanebtn.gif.
  2. Drag items from the Details pane to the List pane to add them to the new playlist.
    To select multiple adjacent items, press and hold the SHIFT key while selecting. To select nonadjacent items, press and hold the CTRL key while selecting.
  3. To rearrange items, drag them up or down in the List pane.
  4. To save the list, click Save Playlist at the bottom of the List pane, and then type a name for the playlist.
    By default, playlists are saved with a .wpl extension in the Playlists folder, which is usually located in the Music folder. You can also save playlists with the .m3u or .asx extension. To do so, click the List button at the top of the List pane, click Save Playlist As, and then change the extension in the Save As dialog box. Once you save the playlist, it's added to the Playlists category in the library.
    To play the playlist in the List pane, click the Play button playing_i_playbtn.gif.
  5. To access the playlist in the future, click the Playlists view in the Navigation pane.
I hope that helps
