Laptop crashes (G4) often and boots up to an error message stating the date is before 2001. The date reverts back to 12/31/1969. Programs are out of wack as a result.

Sounds like you have a power problem. Can your computer run on the battery? If you run it on the battery and pick it up and jiggle it, does it turn off. The reason the date is reverting to 1969 is because once the computer loses all it's power (battery and cord), it loses all information that requires power, which includes the date. I'm guessing that your power cord requires some tweaking to get it to turn on properly (light up) and that the battery is close to dead or doesn't have a great connection so it sometimes loses contact and your computer just clicks off.

Acer e630 will not acknowledge boot disc and also keeps on telling me that i need to check cable connection, which i have done and all is in order

Time to bring it in to a computer shop to be fixed. It could be anything from your motherboard going bad, your DVD drive going bad, your hard drive dying, or even viruses and malware. Or a combination of the four.
Have them give you an estimate before they do any work on it as it may not be cost effective to fix.

I want to reset my sony vaio

I'm assuming you want to restore your computer to the factory settings, so here's how to do that.

1. Restart your computer
2. Hold down the ALT key and press F10 repeatedly as it restarts.
3. This should initiate the factory restore option, which will reset your computer to an out-of-box state.

Hope this helps!

I mistakenly hit 'restore factory settings' on my Acer Laptop. How do I recover my stored data?

Hello,

When logged onto Windows, try to do a system restore. Restore to a date prior to the factory setting restoration if available. This should revert your computer back to the state it was on this date.

Note that you will lose all programs installed after this date.

Hope this helps you.

Hi and welcome to Fixya

Stop or blue screen error are caused by recent software installation or hardware modification. If you installed software recently, try to uninstall the software and observed the problem. If you modify something o the hardware. I recommend to revert the modification and observe the issue.

Bad image error message

Upon startup, one of the F keys, usually F4 through F8, will bring up a system repair screen, with a lot of options. Pick "Restore and Backup". Then Restore your computer to an earlier date. This will keep all your files and programs, and restore your registry and drivers to an earlier date when they worked. You probably got a virus, and this will get rid of it. Good luck, and hope this helps.
