It is an indication that the battery is beginning to fail. Portable system batteries have a useful life of approximately 300 to 500 recharge cycles on average. (Some last longer, some shorter)

If the battery is over a year old, then the warranty on the battery is expired. You'll need to purchase an new battery

Have dell d610 battery light flashes 4 times red then one green, can't unplug

I would take note of the message you are getting and buy a new battery. I believe the red flashing lights mean that one or more of the cells in the battery are dying, and it's best not to turn off alarm lights like these. Did the battery hold charge for a longer period than one hour before you started to see the flashing light warning?

This means the battery is at the end of it's useful life and is no longer being charged by the power source. Time for a new battery.

DEll Latitude D520 is not starting at all.

Remove the main battery and try again, no change! remove the ram memory one at a time, testing as you go making sure there is one ram stick in the slot at all times. If none of these work, the motherboard is the likely problem and you will need a technician to access.

Dell latatude D630 is docked/battery flashing 4 red 1 green

4 orange and 1 green can mean a battery malfunction, or it could be an indication that the battery is about to reach the end of its life cycle. When a battery is built, it has a planned expectancy. a date code is stamped in the electronics of the battery pack. as that date code is reached, the indicator lights on the computer let you know the battery (even if its working fine) is considered obsolete and needs to be replaced soon.

Looks like you need a new battery. Same thing happened with a DELL XPS, once the new battery was in place, all was fine.

Flashing device status light

Ok the lightning bolt is your power indicator: solid green-charging, Flashing green-fully charged, flashing red-low battery, flashing red three times the once green-bad battery. the "trash can" looking one is your hard drive activity indicator it will flash while your hard drive is reading and writing.

Blinking red light

What laptop brand and model is it? And where is the LED that blinks? Important details! Some laptops have a power light that blinks red while battery charges, then it turns steady green when battery is full. Some laptops have a red LED that lights whenever there is hard drive, CDrom, or floppy activity (read/write). This all depends on your laptop brand/model and where the LED is (side, near floppy/CD, top near screen, or on battery itself... so provide more details for me, please!
