Re: kenmore dishwasher how to remove door of main soap...
First you need to find out if it really is a spring or is it a rope system. Remove the lower panel and look to the left or right and see if you have a "spring" or is it a "rope". IF you have a rope, you will need to slide the dishwasher out so you can get to the back of whichever side it is broken on and make the loops required.

There is no replacement part available from Dell. Temporary fix is removing the hinge spring under the small concave white plastic piece (you can remove that also) allows the cover to close. The nub under the cover has to press a "lid closed" switch which is not possible if the lid hinge is broken.

You need to open the top. Unplug the machine and find a stiff putty knife or something flat and thin. Where the top meets the front of the machine, about 2" in from both sides, you will find a spot where you can push inward and release the spring catches. Lift the top and everything will be accessable.
To replace the door springs, you need to remove both the side covers. This can be done by first removing the lid and then working your way around both panels until they come off. You will then see on either side a cord that is attached to a single spring.routed on a small bend. Very unlikely the spring is broken but possibly the cord has or it has pulled loose from its position. Rectify then reassemble.
Could be a suspetion fault, a broken top spring or lower shock absorber gone faulty. Tip the machine back and check the shocks aren't breaking up, also take the lid off and check the top springs are good(usually 2 screws at back of lid, lift and pull back to remove)
At the back of the washer just below the control panel there are two 8mm metal screws remove them there are 2 clips they will alow you to lift the top up in the front of the washer the top cover has 2 spring type holders if you slide a small screw driver in the opening and push gentle on the spring clips they will release and you can lift the top off the washer there is a screw on each hinge this will remove the old hinge then replace with new ones hope this will help
More than likely the spring inside the latch has come undone. To save some money you can remove the latch from the trunk, open the latch and reset the spring. To Remove the latch you will need to remove the carpeted cover on the trunk lid (there are about 10-15 phillips screws holding it on.) Once the cover is off disconnect the rod going to the latch by opening up the clip thats connected to the actuator. Disconnect the wire harness, Remove the 2 10mm Nuts holding the latch to the lid. Remove the black plastic cover on the latch and remove the electrical piece (the plastic cover wraps over the latch and is secured buy 2 plastic pressure snaps). Look down into the latch and you should see a small spring...on my Jetta the spring wasn't connected. take a small pointed object ( I used a light tester) and reattch the spring to the black hook. Mine had some broken plastic in it and After I removed that it worked fine. Once the spring is back into place reassemble the trunk and you should be good to go. No money spent, and it only takes about a half hour or 45 mins to do.
