New belt of Turntable and speed still wrong?

My record player was working fine and then had the occasional time when it would work really slowly or would just start working really slowly for a while. I got a new belt for it and put it on and it was working fine for about twenty minutes and then the speed just went too slow again. It is still working too slow and I don't know what the problem would be considering we just bought a new belt for it. Can someone please tell me how to fix this?

Hi,
Try to put one or two drops of oil in the shaft of the motor. be sure when you put the oil it should not spread on the pull where you put the belt. You will be able to see the shaft of the motor beneath the belt pulley. And also put one or two drops of oil in the center shaft one which the plater rotates. Probably this will rectify the problem of your turntable.

SOURCE: Strange speed

Don't have a solution, but similar problem...turntable is too fast on 33, and even faster on 45 rpm setting. Turntable had not been moved...just played fine one day, and berserk the next..There appears to be some sort of adjustment on the motor but don't know for what, and without a calibrated strobe don't know how one would adjust anyway, even if one could. Agree it's probable just a crappy motor/design.

Hi, the transformer that supplies power to the motor has been fried by the 220v input and will need to be replaced. If you remove it and go to your local electronic parts supplier they should be able to sell you a replacement. Cheers John styluscity.com

ITRR-501 , No sound at all from the phono? Speeds are fine. Turntable starts and stops fine. I installed a new belt. Worked fine before? No sound, even when the needle is touched.

It could be a cartridge issue.

The turntable started dragging and now the record won't finish because it stops. What's wrong ? do I need a new turntable motor? Everything else seem to be working fine thxs David

Is this a cd player or a turntable recordplayer ???

cd player that drags usually mean theres a misalignment in the tray that holds cd

turntables that drag unless they are direct drive usually need there rubber drive tires replaced or a belt what ever it has

My record player (Spirit of St. Louis CD/Cassette/Turntable) still works, but the turntable seems off. The speakers are fine so it's probably a problem with the needle, or the timing belt.

It's defiantly the belt. You can do it yourself. What you need to do is make a note of how it fits NOW - before you remove it (take photo's if you can. This will make it easy to replace it. You will find access to the belt most likely under the turntable matt. Just lift or peel it up. If it is glued you can re-glue it when you have finished, with some Bostick type glue.

When you have removed it take the diameter of the belt in MM and the thickness and search for it on Google. You don't have to be 100% spot on with the diameter measurement.

If you have any problems fitting the belt there are plenty of demonstration video's for belt replacement on YouTube.

Turntable with varying speed

It could be a belt problem...it could also be a
line voltage problem from the ac coming out of the wall if your record player motor is not syncronous...I remember as a boy some of the cheap little record players I had would change pitch at different times during the day, based on the line voltage varying a little bit coming from the wall plug...
Check to see if your player motor is "syncronous" or some such word....
more than likely it is a mechanical problem...
regarding the physics of how the turntable is driven....

Rca record player is playing slowed down or sped up

Hi there

this sounds like the belt that drives the turntable itself is slipping you can normally access it by removing the securing clip by the centre spindle and then lift the turntable up and you should be able to see the belt give the belt a good clean with isopropyl alcohol refit and hey presto (if you still get slippage order a replacement belt )
