I have a ECS 761GX-M754 1.0 motherboard. I just replaced my hard drive and now I don't have any sound. My device manager said my video controller (VGA Compatible) isn't installed. Do I need to update the...

yes it sounds like you will have to re-install your drivers, and chances are, if the video and sound aren't installed, none of them are...

i'll link to each driver you need to download in the order you should install them.

1. SiS AGP VxD Driver - http://download.ecsusa.com/dlfileecs/driver/mb/vga/sis/Agp_121.zip
2. SiS 900 LAN driver - http://download.ecsusa.com/dlfileecs/driver/mb/lan/sis/sis900_116b.zip
3. SiS UniVGA3 driver - http://download.ecsusa.com/dlfileecs/driver/mb/vga/sis/sis660.zip
4. Analog Devices AC'97 Audio Driver - http://download.ecsusa.com/dlfileecs/driver/mb/sound/adi/AD1888-123.zip

if you're not sure how to do the zip file thing, easiest way is to save all your downloads to your desktop, then once they are downloaded, right-click on each one and say "extract all", then a folder of the same name will appear on your desktop. go into there and you'll find your setup files!

hope this helps!

I need driver help, yes i am a idiot

No your not.Go to microsoft web site or use the built in Windows Update on your computer. If you haven't downloaded the update tool it will ask you to install it.After it installs the update tool, run it.Pick the updates you need lnstall them some will require you to restart.Later check the automatic update feature to check for updates.Other updates will be from the manufacturer or your PC,check for their updates.Software from their sites. This is not hard.If I were you I would buy a general book on XP you can learn easy steps to keep your PC up to date and won't have to ask anyone (except FixYa.com) good luck

If it is a laptop or a brand PC, just post a new request on Fixya with computer's make and model, for explample Dell optiplex 120, we will find the drivers for you.
Ifcomputer is assembled you will need to access the motherboard, and the audio card and posthere the code number printed on the motherboard, on on a sticker on top of the motherboard, and post also numbers you find on all device cards (PCI, AGP etc.).

Here is how board identification numbers look like

Geforce 512 agp ddr2

Hi sledgehammur, you're asking if the SiS 651 controller will allow you to run both the on-board integrated AGP4x & the Geforce AGP DDR2 card to function as one. I don't think your SiS controller will allow it to. You'll have to enter bios & change the on-board graphics not to load frist. (Keep in mind the on-board is also an AGP), but the memory is not the same & neither is your system memory which the on-board AGP use's.
You're manual for the board would give you more insite on that issue. My thoughts are you will need to change bios to run from AGP slot on your board & not use the integrated AGP. The good part is your AGP slot will not use you're system memory to run. You're Geforce's memory is faster.
Here is a link to the SiS 651. http://www.sis.com/products/sis651.htm

Enjoy!
If I can be of more service, just ask.
Mike
