Projector keeps shutting off and red light comes on

I need a little bit of info on this problem to solve an arguement with my husband. He purchased this projector and has it in the garage mainly to watch fights with his friends. For the past few months, it has just shut off and a red light comes on. The arguement from him is that because I turn it on for a few minutes (10-15) at a time while I am in the garage, that that is what made the projector malfunction. He from time to time, will leave it on and running for 12 hours at a time on the weekends while him and his friends hang out. Also, our garage is not insulated, so i was wondering if the garage not being insulated, or leaving it running for 12 hours non stop could have led to the problem. Or is it because I turn it on for 10-15 minutes at a time. I know this is a silly arguement, but I need som help here!

Thank You!

We had a projector at our church that was hooked up to a light switch to turn it on or off and it kept burning the bulbs out. We had an expert come in and look over our situation and he said When you are finished with the projector let the fan keep blowing until the unit cools down. Ours had a switch for the bulb as well as one for the fan. We turned out the bulb and left the fan on for an extra ten to fifteen minutes. That let the bulb cool down gradually If you just cut the power the bulb over heats and will burn out. Yes turning on for a few minutes will burn it our quicker as well. Hope this helps.

The lamp does not work and the projector is noisy and shuts down with the red lamp light flashing

I fixed this by applying a little bit of high temp grease to the bottom of the sliding door that is directly in front of the lens.
It as located under the PCB inside the unit.
Mine felt tough to move, then after the grease, it was much easier to slide.
After I put it all back together, no more red light.

Projector shuts off after about 45 minutes

Just a long shot, but...

I have an epson 9000i that did the same thing. Turns out that unit has a small fan (I think 60mm) right next to the power supply to keep it cool, in addition to the large fan that exhausts past the lamp. The fan runs non-stop as long as the unit is powered-up for two reasons I can think of - keep the power supply a little cooler, and the lamp a little warmer so there's not such a temp difference when it powers-up. Long story short, that fan had died. I replaced it with an aftermarket 60mm fan and it's been working fine ever since. Hope this helps.
