Acer x223w issues- freezes

I just hooked up this monitor to my Dell winxp system (P4). If the system is not being used for somnetime, it goes into standby mode. When I try to bring it back, the Monitor shows the wallpaper image, and just freezes. There are no icon or task bar, however the mouse is visible. What's up? I have to hard boot my system to get it started again. What is the problem? PLease help.

ps: the dell monitor I just replaced didn't have these same issues.

I think it could be an issue with resolution. Since the monitor is so big, some video cards, I noticed, can't support the high resolutions that the monitor can, if that doesn't work try 16-bit instead of 32-bit.

I have an Acer X223W monitor. I have been using it with DVI input. I need to switch so that it uses VGA. When I connect the VGA cables, the computer goes into power management mode. I can't get it to...

The VGA section of the Monitor is totally separate circuit than that used by the DVI circuit. Either or will do an automatic switch to what ever circuit communicates via the proper attachment (VG or DVI cable). AS long as the VGA Drivers are up-to-date the operating system should recognize the Video signal. Check the DEVICES and look for Video. Your Monitor should show up if the connection is proper, and if not there, you may have a bad Video Cord.

Everything is a little squashed!

You need to change the monitor type. If you open the display settings and then setting tab-advanced-monitor you see a properties button. Click that and then the driver tab on the new window. What you need to do is go to Acers website und get the "INF" or driver file for your monitor. download and save this file. Then go back to the drivers window and click the reinstall drivers button and then point it towards the file you downloaded. This file lets windows know what settings the monitor can use. After that is installed and you go back to the settings window you should find that the allowed display resolutions have changed. You should be able to change it to one the monitor displays properly now.

Acer x223w monitor - unexplained system freezes

is your lcd has a dvi port? aside from vga? and also is your video card has a dvi port? if all these questions meet, first uninstall the driver of your video card. Then, you need to switch your cable, in order to do this, you must place the one end of your cable to the dvi port of the cpu and the other end to your lcd dvi port. and reinstall the driver again of your video card. see if it works. because there is a certain problem that vga port configuration differs from the
dvi port. that's why when playing games, especially online games. sometimes your system will get corrupted.

Good luck! have a nice day
