Sony Cyber Shot 5.0 MP Zeiss Lens has distorted image

The camera had been working perfectly until I made a video and downloaded it onto my pc. In the files downloaded from my camara to pc an extra file with gears appeared. Not knowing that my camara was not working properly I deleted that file. Now I think it was part of the camara's operating system since then the viewer is showing a distorted image. How do I get whatever it was that I deleted back on my Sony Cyber Shot 5.0 MP Zeiss Lens? The registration I have not done I kept clicking register later could this be the problem?

I canceled download of photos from my sony cyber-shot 1080; now can't download them. How do I retrieve the pictures and get them to download to my PC?

If they still show when you look for them in the camera, they're probably retrievable. Plug in the camera, but instead of using the camera software on your computer, look at your Computer for the camera, or removable HD listed with the C: drive and other devices, locate the DCIM folder, find the pics, drag where you want them.
