Apart from using the wrong mixture of 2 stroke engine oil and petrol what causes the pistons to be dameged on a ts410 stihl saw

Power cutters run in a very dusty enviroment, if concrete dust passes the filter and enters the cylinder it will very quicky remove the plating on the cylinder and wear the piston skirt, once into the bearings it will destroy them, if the rings are badly worn ( remove them from the piston and check the end gap by entering them into the cylinder, if the gap is excessive you have had dust entering the cylinder )

Put new decompression valve in , when pulling the pullcord there's no compression ,it justs jams

Check to make sure the old valve didn't have part of it fall down on top of the piston. I just had that exact thing happen to a TS400 in my shop for service.

Hello, i have had my ts410 in a local repair shop ( TSH in Bury) because it stopped working. They changed a spark plug and cleaned the filter and returned it saying it was fixed and kindly took...

It is hard to cause damage to a unit and be in business long. =) If you don't believe the shop that it is in, then I would take it to another shop that is a Stihl dealer with a Gold Certified Technician. I would also like to say that I would blow the fuel tank completely dry and then check the fuel filter. The filter should be dried after it is taken off of the fuel line and it might have some dis coloration since the fuel is mixed with oil. A new fuel filter should not cost very much in either case. Re attach the fuel filter to the fuel line, and add fresh fuel mix. There could have been some water in the fuel tank that would not be removed when the unit was tipped over. Test run the saw and see when it stops running. Is the unit hot? Did it bog down and die? These are things that should be noted and told to anyone that is working on the unit. I hope this helps you.

Hi there; my stihl ts 420 does not start easily

replace the decompression valve. also check for carbon buildup on top of piston. usually when a saw stops on its own after 5 min or so.... the piston and jug are scored and need to be replaced.
