My sub woofer appears to be wired correctly but no sound is coming out.
SOURCE: sr7200 LFE (sub woofer) output stopped working
Chances are if The Receiver only has sound in Stereo Direct Mode and all surround modes and Sub out are Inop the DSP (Digital Signal Processing) Card is most likey defective. These boards are not available from marantz (D&M Holdings) and must be Component level repaired which usually is not cheap. If Only the Sub out is not working check setup to be sure sub woofer is set for on. Also If On Screen setup menu does not appear on video monitor Unit may need to be Reset manually which entails discharging a Capaitor on main P.C.B Contact [email protected] for details

SOURCE: bare wire sub to single RCA jack receiver
Yes you can modify RCA cables to make bare wire tails.
If the unit has a sub o/p then you just connect up your sub bass unit to whatever the amp needs.
An RCA cable is 2 wire which is all you would normally need for sub bass speaker level signal.
It may be a good idea to eventually upgrade the wire size if you want really good sub bass as lower frequencies draw more current and so require more copper.
Please let me know if this any help, thanks for using FixYa.

Adding to the question on this one. Have this same amp but have never had the original speakers. Am I to assume when you say that the sub is wored to the left and right surround that the original unit was dual coil or if not how does that work?
