First check that weather sound driver is already installed or not.hints :>Right Click to My Computer>>Properties>>Hardware>>Device Manager>>Sound, Video and Games controller.If there is no driver you will notice a ? symbol with yellow color. During this time Just re-install the sound driver it is in your System Mother Board Driver,if you have mention you configuration I can give you the particular link.Still not working, remove the front panel audio jack from the mother board and repeat the first step.Again if the problem still persist, there might be a hardware problem better to buy new Sound Card from the market.Good luck
every mother board have different sound card. you have to install the drivers given to specified mother boards only. i will send you the link for downloading drivers.

make a ghost image using norton ghost before installing any sound driver. if you installed already any driver, reinstall your windows. the sound driver keeps some files that are very difficult to delete.
if the drivers from the links are not got, reply and i will search different ones
re-install drivers, if it works, ok otherwise check speakers on other system. if the speakers are ok, then the sound section of mother board might gone out of order, need an extra PCI sound card.
