New Dell Inspiron connected to HP 820Cse printer. Won't print.

Purchased USB-to-paralled cable to connect new Dell Inspiron to old 820Cse printer. Inspiron recognized 820Cse and installed driver. When I send a document or test page to printer, the 820Cse just sits there (no blinking lights or sounds) and doesn't print.

Same goes for 'Align Print Heads' and 'Clean Print Heads" commands. Nothing happens.

Documents sent to printer show in print que.

Thanks.

The port selected by the computer is "USB001 Virtual Printer Port for USB". When I send a Test Page to the printer, it shows up in the que, but the 'status' eventully shows "error - Printing".

I tried using each of the available port settings; none worked.

Thank you for taking the time to offer your suggestion.

I've not worked with one of these cables before, but here's what I would do: Right-click on the printer icon and go to properties. You'll be looking for the tab that says "ports." Open that tab and see what port the computer thinks it's using for the printer. Chances it says it's using a parallel port, but it is in fact, using a USB port. I can't tell you which to choose without looking at what you see, but I think you might find one that makes reference to a USB port with a parallel connection of some type. Try clicking on that and see if your situation improves.

I connected to my HP DeskJet 820Cse via my home network. It showed the printer is connected and selected but won't print. I am using Windows 7 64-bit. What's wrong?

The 820 is a really old piece of kit and i am very surprised that windows 7 has found a driver for it. I I suspect that it has used a generic driver as hp never produced a W7 driver let alone a 64 bit one. I dont think you will ever get it to work.

Srri but have been working on printers for over 20 years so take my advice and dont try and cure the incureable!!

Where can I buy HP 820sce printer cord with usb connection

Hi,

Any HP inkjet USB cable will fit your printer. You can buy it online from HP shopping site.

I just got a new dell. i've hooked my old hp

1. Try to connect this printer to your PC by ETHERNET cable as opposed to USB 2.0 and see if it speeds up.

2. If it speeds up we know it isn't necessarily the printer giving the problem

3. Now we start to look at the cable. Use a brand new cable to attach it to the PC. If it persists it may very well be the USB port on the Printer itself.

4. To test the port, attach it to another PC and if it speeds up as u expect, then it is not the USB port on the Printer

5. Now it's time to check the Printer Software on the new Dell and fiddle with it a bit accordingly.

Solution
If it is that u cannot get it to speed up by USB and it works well by Ethernet, just use Ethernet to connect it and call it a day

Cannot connect a hp psc 2410 printer to dell inspiron 1000 laptop

Try a powered USB hub, this will boost the power in the USB curcuit.
Also ensure that in Device Manager, USB Root HUB, Power Management tab, that the option to let windows turn off the device is unchecked.

Officejet G85 printer

If you previously were using a parallel connection for the G85 you will need a USB cable.

If your laptop is running Vista the G85 will work as a printer, I do not think there is a scanner driver for Vista for the G85. The G85 print driver is built into VIsta, you only need to turn on the printer and install the USB to have the printer automatically installed.

Canon BJC-250 Printer

sure...you may need to add the printer, again, after removing it. Also, did the new dell Vista disk for drivers and utilities come with? I'd advise going to Canon's page, and getting a more recent driver. The old disk from Dell or Canon, MAY NOT have the most recent driver set. Also, if you're using the print manager, that's a new download, for certain.
