Purchased USB-to-paralled cable to connect new Dell Inspiron to old 820Cse printer. Inspiron recognized 820Cse and installed driver. When I send a document or test page to printer, the 820Cse just sits there (no blinking lights or sounds) and doesn't print.
Same goes for 'Align Print Heads' and 'Clean Print Heads" commands. Nothing happens.
Documents sent to printer show in print que.
Thanks.
I've not worked with one of these cables before, but here's what I would do: Right-click on the printer icon and go to properties. You'll be looking for the tab that says "ports." Open that tab and see what port the computer thinks it's using for the printer. Chances it says it's using a parallel port, but it is in fact, using a USB port. I can't tell you which to choose without looking at what you see, but I think you might find one that makes reference to a USB port with a parallel connection of some type. Try clicking on that and see if your situation improves.

The port selected by the computer is "USB001 Virtual Printer Port for USB". When I send a Test Page to the printer, it shows up in the que, but the 'status' eventully shows "error - Printing".
I tried using each of the available port settings; none worked.
Thank you for taking the time to offer your suggestion.
