What's the humming sound from the back of the oven?

Nothing but problems with this oven; from delivery, to installation, to servicing. Electrical fire started from light/convection switch in right oven. Blew fire out, shut off breaker, called Sears. Took Sears Service three trips over almost three months to show up with the proper switch and fix that problem. Yesterday discovered a steady humming sound coming out of the back of the range. Shut breaker "off" then back "on" after a couple minutes, turned all commands "off" then back "on", but the humming hasn't gone away. Now what? (I'm not on Facebook).

Thanks all for the quick responses. The model # for this beast is C970-330033. Until it's repaired, I'ill shut down the breaker and just use the gas top.

SOURCE: error code E2F3

Traci, The error code means overtemperature, just what happened to you. It exceeded 575 degrees. Two things that have to be checked here. First the temp sensor itself, it should ohm out at 1080 at room temperature. If it's within specs, which I doubt, then the main board has to be checked for a welded or closed relay. I wouldn't use the oven. Catriver...post back.

SOURCE: bottom element will not turn off

Your BAKE element relay on the Electronic Oven Control (EOC) Board is shorted.  I have experienced this problem before.  The board is not serviceable and (unfornately) you will have to replace it.  The board can run anywhere from $100 to $200 for a new one.  Slightly less for a refurbished one.  Prices will also vary depending on source.  This is a repair you can do yourself if you choose to do so.  If you can provide me with your model number (located inside the lower door panel), I can do some research to get a part number and price for you.  Let me know.  I hope this is helpful.

SOURCE: Dryer won't Start

the problem might be the start switch itself. if the switch is going bad it could have either a carbon buildup on the contacs preventing it from starting (unlikely) or the contacs are wearing out and it is more hit or miss if it will start. as time goes on the problem will get wose

Won't turn over... just makes a clicking sound... and a wierd humming sound.

Try cleaning your terminals at the battery, even if not corroded. In my years as an alarm/radio installer I have come across this problem constantly, especially on GM vehicles.

I put a small amount of cheese in a bowl to melt and after 3 minutes on high, the cheese was barely warm. The microwave is also making a humming noise. Could it possibly be that I need to change the...

Hello Madam, No, it couldn't be the fuse. The humming noise mean there a short in the HV power supply. Probably the transform. It not a continuing humming sound or is there minute brakes in the humming. All the minute brakes in the humming sound mean it just a 60 cycle hum which the frequency of US electrical service--60hz.. When it finally goes, it could be the fuse, sorry. It to expensive to get it repaired. I am fairly positive you'll be needing a new Microwave oven. But don't throw it way, recycle it.
.
Take it apart and get the copper, and other metal out. Copper right now is going for $3.24 per pound, bass is $l.95 per pound. If you don't want to take it apart. Call the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, possible your Church, or some none profit group that uses the funds of charitable work.

Madam I wish you the best of luck in you endeavors. stewbison

No heat - sounds like low humming noise - smells like burning electrical wiring.

We have a sound clip of what a microwave should sound like when the cooling fan and high voltage section are operating here.

A loud buzz, hum, or groan is usually a shorted high voltage rectifier diode, but a sound like gurgling into an empty coffee mug is one symptom of a failed magnetron, and yet the mag can be bad without that sound.

Here are some links you or someone you know can use (in order given) for high voltage section test help, but read the safety warnings first:

http://www.gallawa.com/microtech/diode.html
(if it is NOT shorted or burned looking, it's probably fine)

http://www.gallawa.com/microtech/mag_test.html
(continuity can be good even though mag is bad!)

There should be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, & testing.

At
our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Accessing some parts may require you to pull the oven from the wall and remove the cover.

If so, the installation instructions are very handy, and it's best to have two people since the microwave can be heavy and awkward.

You can download GE owner's manuals and installation instructions here.

You can find links to helpful exploded view diagrams and part ordering help here.

I'd recommend that your bookmark this link to your favorites.

If it's within the magnetron warranty (usually 50-10 years - check your owner's manual), G.E. will send you the magnetron to do it yourself. Call them at 888-239-6832 with your model, serial, and manufacturing date from the tag in or on the oven.

If nothing else, you can save about $50-75 if you remove it from the wall and take it to a GE-authorized servicer.

You can find a GE-authorized servicer by calling GE Appliance Service at 1-800-848-7620 or here.

Whirlpool built-in double oven model# RBD305PDB12

the humming sound is coming from the "squirrel cage" fan in the back of the unit, there may be some resonance vibration from the fan this issue should be addressed by a qualified service tech, the whole wall oven needs to be pulled out, i would have him check the fan.

GE Spacemaker XL1800(JVM1850CF001) - Loud Humming noise

You either have a bad magnetron tube (5 or 10 year parts warranty item through GE Factory Service 1-800-432-2737 or www.geappliances.com) or a shorted high voltage rectifier. I think the light being out is a secondary problem.

1800 XL JVM1860BD - won't work

It sounds like your controller may be failing. Or it could be an electrical line problem. Any other electrical itmes giving you trouble? Has anyone measured the voltage level of your power line? It should be around 110-125 volts AC. If it's significantly lower or higher, you may have a bad connection in your breaker panel or in the wiring leading to the home.
