Open it up and look for bulging or split electrolytic capacitors, especially in the back to the display and the power supply.

Or take to an electronics technician for diagnosis.

In this problem change the cassette player belt it will be OK 100% .I just solve the problem in my set

Check the speaker wires for shorts, If okay! the audio output chips should suspect.

Protect Push Power on a Sony is telling you that you have an output short circuit and to turn off the player to prevent further damage.
Check the speaker cables for connection fault. If all is OK it means you have a blown STK Amplifier Chip. Will cost you about 20$ plus labor.

Do Following...

• Turn off the System-Turn it off for a while
• Then turn it back on.
• Still Problem, Turn Off system and Check the Speaker Code
• RESET the system .
• Remove all the connections, leave it for 24hours and then connect it up again

To Reset

• Unplug Power Code
• Plug it back again
• Press Stop , Enter and Power button at Same time
• Press Power Button to Turn on it

Still have Problem The protective device on the amplifier has been activated because of short circuit. (“PROTECT” and “PUSH POWER” flash alternately.) Turn off the unit, eliminate the short-circuit problem and turn on the power again.
