DV62 dishwasher not heating up

I have an indesit DV62 dishwasher which during a cycle isnt getting hot - in fact it isnt even getting warm. My first thought was that the heating element had gone but I have replaced this and no joy. I have checked the cables going to the heating element during a cycle and these are getting power so my next thought is the thermostat. I have read that some dishwasher models have a reset switch on the thermostat but I havent been able to find one on this one. Is anyone able to provide any pointers on this or if I should just try replacing the safety thermostat. Any information would be much appreciated. Thank you!!

You have a blockage in your drain pump. Remove all filters and scoop out as much water as you can from the unit. Check in the bottom for any objects stuck there. Some models have a cover on the bottom inside the unit, which once removed, will expose the drain pump impeller. If yours does, remove the cover(usually 1 screw only) and free the drain pump impeller. NB: DO NOT REMOVE THE SCREWS WHICH HOLD THE BASE TUB IN PLACE! These are the screws on the edge of the white plastic "bowl" inside the unit. The drain pump cover will be INSIDE this bowl and will be quite small, no more than 5cm dia.... If this does not work, you will have to remove the drain pump from the bottom or front of the unit to get the blockage out. Oshie

Hi

The unit has two thermostats and you can test both of them for continuity before replacing, no continuity replace the thermostat. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

My indesit dishwasher is not drying when the cycle is finish

Possibly the drying /heater element is faulty. Check the machine isn't on a non drying cycle. Some machines will do the last rinse in hot water but leave the dishes to drip dry in the hot humid air after the rinse. If the dishes or water isn't hot during a rinse , I would say its the element.

Indesit DV 620 Dishwasher: Reaches the end of it cycle then sits for ever with the DRYING light flashing. Cannot reset it or start a new cycle. However, intermittantly it will reset.

Hi I had the same problem with the ID620. Just fixed it last week. With the ID620 flashing 4 means tha t there is a problem with the heating circuit. Either the element, the stat or the control board. Mine was a problem with the control Board. I took the board out and after some debug found a faulty zener diode. Replaced with new one from Radionics (1 euro) and machine now 100%.

No heat - element measures 31 ohms is that correct ?

31 ohms is probably a good value for an element rated at about 500W. Dishwasher washing cycles use the heating element to keep the water hot during a specific cycle but not necessarily all cycles. Probably you have to select the cycle that deposits the soap. There is also likely a temperature switch in series with the 120 volts that is applied to the element during the cycle. Other cycles may not use the heating element. Be careful about where you put your fingers.

The countertop gets hot when the dishwasher is run. Is this normal?

Built in dishwashers use very hot water for the wash cycle and have a heating element that can be selected for the dry cycle.. All dishwashers have some insulation wrap around the housing ( some more than others) and the fact that your counter gets warm is of no consequence.. In other words, I wouldn't be concerned over it..

Indesit DG6100W problem...please help!

Hi, I have the same dishwasher and it fills from the cold supply, not the hot and it doesn't have a cold cycle as is previously suggested, as you will know kellyemb :-)

The Indesit DG6100W does a fill from the cold and heats as it washes, so if it's sticking part way through, it could be the heating element. Have you tried opening the door when it sticks and seeing if the water is hot? The heating element went on ours and it kept tripping the electric whenever the it tried to start to heat the cold water. If it is the element, they don't cost much to replace, even cheaper if you know someone who can fit it for you! Ours cost us around £12 and hubby fitted.

The only other thing I can think of is it might be the timer, like someone has suggested but how to reset it, I have no idea. I have seen on another website that a replacement timer is around £55 plus VAT, which is a little expensive.

Hope you get it fixed.

My dishwasher is tripping the electric.

Usually time to replace the heating element. The element is sealed inside a metal tube packed with a dry powder to insulate it. If the outer tube leaks (and it only takes a pinhole), the powder gets wet and stops insulating. It only takes a tiny earth leak to take modern trips out. If your dishwasher is one of those where the element is visible in the bottom of the compartment you load the dishes into, replacing it yourself ought to be straightforward. If it's buried in the works, whether you want to tackle it yourself or pay someone else to do it depends on how confident you are. Either way, it shouldn't be catastrophically expensive. A.
