I have Toshiba Satellite- A135-S4477 model laptop which has a 4 pin firwire point and my camcorder has the same port , so i bought a IEEE 1394 4 pin Male to 4 pin Male cable which did not fit my laptop. I think it needs a female , but first thing i couldn't find a 4pin male to 4 pin female cable , and when looking at adapters/converters of male to female i see the female side is quite big but this laptop needs something that can be inserted kind please help what kind of firewire has to be used , need a solution other than using a network card.
There are generally three different types for firewire connectors. In the laptops its usually the mini contact(type 2) so is even on the camcorders. on the desktop PCs and MACs however it could be. either type 1 or the type 2. There is a thired type (B) which is less common.
