Wii remote works on wii sports menu but not on wii

That's hardly an operating system issue that you're working through; try Wii forums, etc. where you can talk about, for example, registering the primary controller and using that, what generation Wiimote you're using, etc... Contrawise the game may be picky about from what range you use the controller; Wii sports are very lax on both the depth at which they address the sport and pickiness about controllers.

On the Wii menu, if you press home button, and click "Wii Remote Settings" then "Reconnect" it will enable you to connect wiimotes by pressing 1 and 2 simultaneously. Also some games, Wii sports for example, allow you to use one controller for two or more people.

1- Try to press home button ,if it loads u can sync the remote from there.
or
2- Try to re-sync your remotes by pressing both sync (from remote and wii at same time) in the game.
or
3- You can get a new remote and see if it works during playing . If it does your previous remote isn't working properly, but if it doesn't there is a problem in either the game or wii (bluetooth module)

i have looked around for you and i beleive all you need to do is press the Sync button on the Wii (not the Wii Remote) for 15 seconds to reset it.
and it should work like a charm to get you back to throwin some curve's in wii sports!!!!!

well it could mean that the wii remote has an error in the system i suggest getting it fixed or get a new one hope this helped:)

I had that same issue what
I found out is that the wii remote's are fine
the problem is probally your sensor bar
if you can't fix you can buy a new one from nintendo for $10.00 (1-800-255-3700)

I had the same problem. I called wii support (1800-255-3700) and they gave me the solution. Some new games include a wii update that must be installed before the game will work. Insert the disk. When the wii menu comes up point the wii remote at the spinning disc and click A. Follow the instructions for installing the update. Your game will work once the update completes.

You have to start the game then press the home button on the remote. Go to WII and select the menu for the remotes. Click on reconnect. Press the 1-2 buttons on remote #1. When it lights up on the screen, press the 1-2 buttons on remote #2. Select close out remote settings, go back to the game. Select two players and each player can have his/her own remote.

after you enter the game, do the following: (must admit it took me some time to figure it out)
1. hit on home button on wii-mote to bring up wii menu
2. choose remote setting and setup the extra remote(s) you want to use in the game
3. now your extra remote(s) are recognized.
you can now go back to the game and choose multi-user mode

Some games does not use Sensor Bar pointing because they play with motion/accelerometer only. After you select the number of sets on Wii Sports Tennis, there is no Sensor Bar pointing except for Pause menu. That's because you Swing the remote like a racket.
