No computers will recognize my Sony Walkman NWZ-E438F 8GB

Whenever i connect the player to a usb port, it will not show up on the computer. the player shows that it is charging and says "connecting" but you cannot access the files on it. I have tried multiple computers(non modified) also, even though it says its charging, its not. I left it plugged in over night, but it still showed the same amount of battery life after unplugging it. Please help!!!

Two days into our cruise my Walkman MP3 player came up dead. Tried charging it without any luck. It will come up for about 15 seconds with "every moment has its music" and then dies. Computer does not recognize the device, not sure what is going on.

I have the same problem. After I plug it into the USB port, it says 'connecting' and then just stays there - the computer does not recognize it. However, when I connect it to my laptop, it says the hardware has already been installed. I'm thinking there's some kind of software that I don't have?

Mine says that it is full, but it doesn't charge. It says onnected USB (mtp)

I hypothesize that it's windows SP3 that does it, but I'm not sure.

SOURCE: mp3 will not connect with my computer

I'm pretty sure I fixed a similar problem. Go to your device manager on your PC and uninstall the walkman driver. After this is complete just plug the walkman back into you Pc and the plug and play will download the driver again. This worked for me. My operating system is Windows vista.

SOURCE: nwz-e438f will not play, or connect to computer

Please try connecting the Walkman to a different USB port on the Computer and check if that helps.

Please make sure that there is no other USB devices connected to the Computer at the same time.

If there was no change after the player was reset, connect it to the computer and reset it again, leaving it connected.

Keep the Walkman connected to the Computer for 4 hours to fully charge the battery. Then, check whether the Walkman is working properly.

Ensure that the HOLD switch is not activated.

If the issue still persists after performing the steps provided above service of the Walkman is required.

My nwz-e438f walkman wont charge anymore can anyone help me?

Hi hellohello21,
attach the supplied cable directly to the computer's USB port (don't use any other extension cord simultaneously). If that doesn't work, check if you've some problems with your USB driver.

Sony Walkman NWZ-E438F connects & disconnects itself from USB

I suggest that you uninstall and reinstall the USB Driver to resolve the issue.
Follow these steps to uninstall the driver and confirm the player is recognized properly.
IMPORTANT:
  • This procedure must be performed while logged in as Administrator or to an account with Administrator rights.
  • If you are using the Windows® XP operating system, you must have Service Pack 2 or later installed.
  1. Click Start and then click Control Panel .
  2. In the Control Panel window, click Performance and Maintenance .
  3. In the Performance and Maintenance window, click System .
  4. In the System Properties window, click the Hardware tab.
  5. On the Hardware tab, under Device Manager , click the Device Manager button.
  6. In the Device Manager window, click the plus (+) sign in front of Disk drives .
  7. Click to select the Sony USB device .
  8. From the menu, click Action and then click Uninstall .
  9. In the Confirm Device Removal box, click OK .
  10. Disconnect the portable player from the computer.
  11. In the System Settings Change box, click Yes.
After that, restart the computer and reconnect the Player to resolve the issue. USB Drivers are generic to the Operating System and will reinstall automatically after restarting the computer. I hope it works.

Sony Walkman (NWZ-E438F) won't turn on

It sounds like you followed the directions, so the device may be defective.

Your laptop's USB port has enough power to use other similar devices? If so, I'd take it back for an exchange.

By the way, it's a great device, so don't give up yet!

How do i make my mp3 connect with my computer

I had the same problem. I had not had any problems for months and suddenly it wouldn't connect. I got on live chat w/ Sony (3 times) and finally got someone who seemed to know what they were doing. I have a Sony computer and they had to send me a link for a USB "patch". After downloading it, it fixed it.

Walkman will not charge

Whenever I plug my Walkman into my USB hub, which is connected to my desktop, it too says it's battery is full after just a few seconds. I plugged it directly into my laptop, and it took a charge as normal. Then I plugged it into a different USB port on my desktop, and it again took a charge as normal.
So, if you are using a USB hub, try plugging the Walkman directly into one of the computers USB ports, you may have better luck.
