Question about Sony Dual-Deck Cassette Player/Recorder with Dolby Noise Reduction

Sony Dual-Deck Cassette Player/Recorder, doors won't close

My sony player is old but still works if you tape the doors where the tape goes in shut. It's becoming a problem because: 1. it looks ugly commpared to the rest of the stereo 2. its hard to posision the door right to close it and stick it down
it all works when i tape it shut but is there any way this can be fixed

Yep, i have had the same problem with 3 of my Sony decks, Sony products are usually very reliable.

Are both sides not staying shut? If it's only one side, look to see if the latch is broken. You should see an arm move when you press down the eject button - while the door is open, press the eject button and see where the arm moves. You should see a hook that catches the door and keeps it closed. It could be broken, or just jammed. Look at the other side of the deck and see it it looks like it's working the same. Unjam the latch arm if it's stuck, or replace it if it's broken.

You do need an amp of some kind. On the back of the deck will be RCA sockets, in the red and white ones you plug a line cable to the audio in sockets of an amp or receiver. The other two sockets are record. They go to the audio out of the amp.

Deck a dont play or rewind or fast forwed

The unit needs service but may not be worth the cost of the job. Dual cassette decks in all brands are constructed very poorly- that is why I do not own one but have dozens of other good decks that still work after 30 years.

I have a TC-WE835S Sony cassette deck I have not use for many years. Today after I insert a cassette into Deck A, it is stuck. I cannot open that side to recuprate my cassette. Please help. Your assistance...

I have the same unit...when it is "ON" ,plug the power cord off and than try to open the cassette door..
the head mechanism keeps the cassette in,power off will release it..
let me know if it does not work out..

When I play a tape on a Sony TCW475 dual cassette tape recorder/player there is this loud clunking noise as it begins to play. How can I fix this? It is brand new.

If the clunking is in the deck itself and not in the speakers, it's actually probably normal.
This "clunking" is the unit electro-mechanically lifting the heads into place.
