I can't type in the serial number for anime studio 7 on my macbook

Contact the software manufacturer or distributor, they will be able to assist you. Otherwise the serial number will have been provided on the paperwork that came with the software when purchased.

Usually it should be on a sticker aside with a code bar ...This sticker should be on the left or right side ...but it may as well be on the back ...If there is non ..try to identify it from windows..if you are running windows vista or windows 7 ...Click on the Start button---the little Windows logo at the bottom left of the computer---type "cmd" in the search field and then press "Enter." A black box with white lettering will pop up. This is the command prompt. In this box, type "wmic bios get serial number" and press "Enter." The computer's serial number will appear in the box .

Hit F3 to continue the search if the title doesn't show up on the first page. If you look in the data column, you may see a long string of numbers and letters that looks like a serial number. Write it down and save it.

It sound like you have a defect codec installed. Try updating (uninstall / reinstall) your codecs.
or disable the codec befor trying to export.

just got my serial number via my acct info.

The serial number is the Dell Service Tag number (7 digits, numbers and letters) the express service code is an all numeric translation of the service tag so that you can punch in the computer ID on the phone if calling for support. The Service Tag is also displayed in the BIOS

Obtain any model of USB keyboard from any other computer and plug it into your MacBook. If you can type those letters from that keyboard, you have a keyboard hardware issue. If you still can't, check System Preferences / International and make sure you are set to use the US keyboard.
