No sound from a Shure MX412D/C

Hello,

So I'm at a clients office (auction house) and we recently setup a new auction room for them. We have a Bogen 35 amp and we purchased them a new mic (Shure MX412D/C) The mic is very nice but will not work. If I hook up the old mic also a Shure (570S) the setup works fine. I just cant seem to get the new mic to work. I have test it with a Shure MX418D/C and get the same result... no sound. Im I missing something?

Please help me out.
Thank you
-John

Sounds to me like you may be missing a phantom power supply. The 570S is a Dynamic mic. The MX412d/c is a Cardioid and requires a 11-52v supply over pins 2 & 3 in the mic cable. Phantom power is a feature of most professional mixing consoles(usually 48v). If you do not have a phantom power supply on your system- then you can purchase single battery powered units to insert in the link between sound console and Mic. For example: AKG B-18
Hope this helps.

I have a client who wants to put hardwired headsets into house sound breakout rooms. Can I use a Shure PG30TQG or a WH20TQG and convert it to hardwire with a MX1BP

Bring a dynamic mic, the WH20 just needs a new connector put on it. The PG30 would need the MX1BP or the RK100PK with a phantom power supply.

I currently own a kirby heritage II, and love the cleaning power it has, but....it is becoming harder and harder for me to manuever it, do to arthritis. Are the newer kirby's any easier? If so, how much?...

If you are good and familiar with a Kirby, the new generations are self propelled with a transmission BUT may cost you over $1500 US. They will be very familiar but easier to push, yet still vastly overpriced.
You might want to look for a deal on a used or refurb Generation 3-4or 5 or the new G6 in an estate sale or local newspaper. many people buy one then realize they can't run them and sell them off.
Or consider an easier running unit. if you want great quality, mainly for carpet, look for A sebo UPRIGHT

Bogen head slips

I"ve owned four pistol grip heads, and eventually they all do this. They simple wear out.

You can send it to Bogen, and for about $35, they'll ship you a reconditioned replacement.

Check the Bogen website for details
