Dissamble the dvd rom from pc. Open it and clean the laser with a soft cloth or try a dvd lens cleaner disk. You can buy it from any hardware shop. Connect the cables correctly. Start with a fresh dvd disk. If your pc still can't detect dvd disc, replace dvd rom with a new one.

I have a Windows 7 Professional PC HP Compaq dc7700p X86 with a DVD Rom but no dvds are getting detected lately. Can't find the needed drivers online specifically. Help needed urgently

There aren't really any drivers you can install to fix the problem. Most often this is caused by upper/lower filters in the registry.

Try this, but always backup your registry or at least make a restore point first.

How DO i Fix DVD Writer Works As CD ROM Only. Not Detecting any DVD.

There are 2 assemblies inside it.
One works to read/write CD media.
One works to read/write DVD media.
So, your device is "half-broken".
Replace it.

Media center cannot detect a video dvd in dvd-rom drive. insert a video dvd into the drive. dvds no longer play on the computer

Did it used to play dvd videos before? If so, maybe the program that you used to use to play the videos on might of gotten deleted. make sure that you have a program to play the dvd's in like power dvd, bs player or VLC player...

I have a emachine laptop and it wont load cds, dvds or games whats wrong with ut and how can i fix it

you have to verify if your DVD rom is detected in bios. Restart your computer and press F2 during boot. check if you see the DVD Drive is detected. if yes, exit and boot to windows if no.. your DVD is not detected and might be a motherboard issue or your drive needs to be replaced.
you can also try to clean your DVD lens with cotton or use a DVD lens cleaner

Samsung DVD Rom Drive does not read disks

Usually when you buy a DVD ROM drive it comes with software. However, I bought a LG one and it didn't come with any software. All I can tell you is to update the system BIOS and the firmware that came with the drive. Look on the top part of the drive when you take it out of the system.

Go to the manufacturer's website and download updated firmware for the unit.

Windows Media Center cannot detect a video DVD in the DVD-ROM drive, even when I have inserted a DVD into the drive This is the driver installed in my computer: Optiarc DVD RW AD-5540A ATA Device

Unless you use a DVD player software like power dvd or others, you can not watch dvd on your media player. This is a copywrite and license related issue. DVD players are paid players and this is why, microsoft can not include it on windows.

If you are not willing to buy a player now, try vlc media player instad (click here to get ) . Its free ofcource.

DVD

first try to change your master-slave pin in your CD-DVD ROM
and reconnect bus connections or change your DVD ROM bus.
if the DVD-ROM and Hard disc are connected in a same bus just put them in seperate buses.

CD-RW/DVD ROM

On the Load Problem.. try rebooting your system. It sounds like your driver either dropped or didn't load correctly. Also, check the properties of the drive and make sure you have the DLA option checked.

On the software, windows media center, roxie, nero, any of those are good. Here are a few good free programs: http://www.avsmedia.com/DVDPlayer/index.aspx
