Won't scan all cable channels.

How do I get TV to scan all cable channels. Have only used the external anten. before, but now want to hook it up to cable. Can't find manual. I can only get it to scan a couple of channels instead of entire cable offering. How do I get it to recognize full cable access?

I don't know your exact model, but from your description, the set is still in the over-air mode. Check the setup menus for a setting for cable/air and set it to cable. Once that is done, the autoprogram should work. Many of the newer models will scan both options at in sequence, but not all. Let us know if that does not resolve the problem.

HDMI input works ok. Hooked up external antenna. Did channel scan. It will only scan for analog channels. Has analog raster on screen. It has no information on menu page for digital channel scan.

do you have the air option in the scan menu see
http://tv.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/sanyo/dp42841.html
page 9 important fact cable digital gets wiped by air digital channels

You may be able to get around this via a digital hd tv decoder box and then have it on a hdmi input on the TV as a backup to the cable if you can't have both cable digital channels stored and aerial digital channels stored

I have a seiki TV that will scan for channels but won't find any and I have cable with the cord hooked to the TV. help! It won't even allow me to perform any other task on TV other than scanning

Using the TV remote unless you can do it manually switch TV to channel 3, not the cable box the TV, you don't need to scan for channels you do need a cable box though

I am moving tomorrow and won't be able to afford cable or satellite for awhile. I have a newer model Sanyo tv. Will I need a converter box or can I hook an antenna directly into the tv to pick u

If your TV has the screw-on coaxial cable connection on the back, then you will not need a converter box. You can attach an internal or external antenna and have your TV scan for digital channels. The converter boxes are mostly for old CRT TVs with analog tuners or newer home theater "monitor" TVs which are being produced without built in tuners.

Connected lg tv directly to cable wall jack. Can only get one channel. Manual scan grayed out. Ez scan does not find any channels. Main input is set to cable box. No option for just cable

Why not get a box and hook via rear inputs--not that expensive from most cable companies. If items such as the channel scan are grayed out it means something in the set is set wrong---

My tv will scan and receive channels on a antenna but will not pick up channels on a cable scan with a good cable and a proven good cable signal

if you are not using a cable box and trying to connect cable directly to tv you will get very few channels since they are all digital now and most are scrambled

you will need to hook that cable to the input labled 'QAM' and program tv for digital channels

if you are coming out of a 'cable box' you just need to hook up video cables to an input on tv and change tv to that input - no scanning necessary

hope this helps - if not write back with more details and i will try to help more

good luck!

Not able to scan for digital OTA channels on a JVC LT-32X667 LCD

Seeing as it does not have a digital tuner in it, I would think this would be the problem, you will have to get a box for it.

Hitatchi 42HDF52 only receives channel 5 and 6 on analog RF input

If you have tried autoprogramming and have found nothing it may be a bad tuner. Is your VCR is hooked up via coax or into a video input? If it is hooked up via video and is working but the coax connection direct isnt it will be a bad TV tuner. Easiest cheapest fix is to use you VCR to change channels or get a Digital Cable Terminal from you cable provider and hook it into video or compnent.
