It sounds like there may be an issue with the motor or the motor switch. The thump sound you heard could be the motor attempting to start but not being able to, which can also explain why the drum won't spin. It could be a problem with the wiring, capacitor, or the motor itself. You may want to check the wiring to ensure there are no loose or damaged connections. If the wiring appears to be in good condition, it may be best to call a professional technician to inspect and repair the dryer.
If the drum won't move but you can hear a motor running, the drive belt has probably slipped off of the drum or motor pulley or has broken. Try turning it by hand with the motor off and then turning the dryer on again.
If the heating elemnts are coming on but the drum is not spining then the motor could be bad or the belt could be broken that turns the drum. The motor could also be on a thermal overload in this case unplug the dryer or turn off the circuit breaker for 15 minutes and let everything cool down. After turn the breaker back on or plug it back in and give it a try if you hear the motor running but the drum is not spinning then the belt is probably broken and will have to be replaced.
If you can hear the motor running but the drum is not turning, the belt maybe slipping or broken.
See section 7 of this: http://home.howstuffworks.com/how-to-repair-a-dryer.htm
If you cannot hear the motor running then the door switch is not engaged or the motor is disconnected or dead (not too likely).
So,. basically your drum doesnt turn. SO your getting heat still even though the drum isnt turning. Is this right? Sounds strange??? Do you hear any humming noise when you push the start button? I need to know a little more about the problem because im kinda confused as how you decribed the problem. Iv never seen a dryer heat but the drum not spinning. especially your model dryer. Its electric heat right? because if the drum doesnt spin, maybe your motor is bad. and if your motor is bad, then your heating element wont heat up because the centrifical switch in the motor is not switching to complete the circuit to the heating element. So this is why im confused when you said" Dryer heats when knob turned but when "push button" pressed, drum doesnt run." Because your belt wraps around the motor pully and the motor is what makes the drum turn. Like i said, i never seen this model dryer heat with out the motor operating. So if you can give me some more info, ill do my best to help you out....Thanks!!!!
You must pop off the top of the dryer then remove the front after the front is off you can remove drum . The belt goes around the drum and the motor pully and under the tentioner wheel after you get belt on replace front and top.
PLEASE MAKE SURE TO UNPLUG FROM POWER THIS IS 220volts AND CAN HURT YOU BAD
