Tom Tom One Doesn't Turn on

I have used it only once since I bought it new and it was working fine. But now it wouldn't turn on. I have tried to connect it to the mains charger,car charger and even my pc but its green light comes up and it doesn't turn on. The charger is of UK specification and I live in England. Can some one tell me what's the problem with it? and how to fix it? Does not turn on but green light is on. this happened after I bought a cheap charger from ebay and it just turned off after 10 minutes, coincidence???

Well thanks but I am no electrician and I started to think as soon as I was born thank you!

I have already contacted the seller but he is not going to admit responsibility now is he? I need to prove the charger caused the fault.

drove all the way to fort myers florida fromm toronto canada and had neary a problem. next morning green light is on while plugged into the cigarette adaptor, but unit not turn on. pushed reset button on bottom next to SD card slot with no results. frustrating indeed.

You should learn some elecricity and change some parts that broken, or buy new one, because it is out of waranty, or you can apply the problem to the ebay seller, start to think!!!

well, how can you prove it?
If you know you can use the law sales of goods 1979 and get all compensation for it.
And, i'm not ebay user, but i heard that if you notify it to administration that user can be disabled.

If the keyholes were not used for some time - then the grease in there could turn into stiff mass. Try put some wd40 in the keyholes and try to turn around with a key - watch out so that the key wouldn't break and stay inside the hole. Good luck

No, then tom tom cannot recharge when the car is not on. You need to turn on the car before your tom tom can charge. The battery gets to charge the tom tom when in use. Once the car is turned off the gps will not charge. You can try out a practical by turning off your car and plugging the gps to see if it will work. Or the cigarette lighter, does it work when the car is turned off. Since the cigarette lighter does not turn on when the car is off, then it means it gps cannot charge once the car is turned off.

The power button (more like a slide) on the bottom right side will turn it on once it's ejected from the computer. Hold the slide in, and let go after a second or two. Give it a few seconds (like 10) and it should power on. I got mine as a gift and am still working through the interface.

I bought the new maps from website, and can not install

If the software crashed whilst updating, you will find that if you try to restore from a complete backup when you switch on next time it will either say you cant use the map or will just freeze, fix re format both the internal memory and the memory card, then find where tom tom home had stored the files, then using windows copy the contents from the 2 folders back into the relitive internal and external card, you will then find that you will get the mesage that you cant use the map, this is because tom tom home doesent always put the map data into the correct folder, to fix this find the licence data and the map data that has been stored on the sd card instead of the internal memory and copy it into the internal memory, before switching off press the reset button, when you switch on you should find that you have a working tom tom

I bought a Sears edger #536 796526. It dies on me.

Hi Tom. You are not doing anything wrong. That being said, your edger has a slightly gummed up carbeurator. I would go to an auto parts store and get a can of a product called seafoam. this is a gasoline additive. Add one ounce per gallon of gas and use this as the fuel for your edger. You will solve your problem in just a few minutes after using this product, I believe. Give it a try and let me know.

Tom Tom go 910 screen get frozen every time I turn it on

Sounds like your firmware is corrupted. I have fixed a few 910's with this same problem. If you have the Tom Tom Home program installed, try to reinstall the firmware using Tom Tom's website.

Make sure you always select to disconnect the device before unplugging it. You might have unplugged it from the PC while it was still writing data. This will certainly corrupt the firmware.

Seeking the repair of my tomtom Go 910

One suggestion is to plug the Tom Tom using the temporary power cord to you home circuit (not the power source from the car). That worked for me. Sometime the Tom Tom shuts down when left in the hot car requiring a reset. Then the best way is to plug in at home and restart. Try it, otherwise I can't help.
