I have inserted a brand new cartridge in the black toner cartride at the top
of the printer and the caveat of "Replace supplies" comes up with the
last square on the left bottom darkened. Please help! !
The problem is that HP has a bad printer here the cartridges are cheeply made very cheeply made which is surprising coming from HP, the problem is that the cartridge is BAD. sorry but it needs replacing, return it to the store you got it from if you can and get a new one, or if you cant then take it to any one of the huge number of refill places like cartridge world. have them test it and repair the problems with it or even replace it.

Are you using Xerox or aftermarket compatible ink stixs? I have seen aftermarket ink stixs ruin these machines. You can go to Xerox website and find information on running a process to hopefully clear up the "cyan" or blue printing problem.

I guess you should try to reset it ..and get the cartridge out and see if the toner (ink ) is getting out ..by pressing it (with the part where you removed the tape ) on some absorbent paper ..when it is working well it should leave a mark on the paper ..the mark should be not washed ...but real color and all... If it do not ..just use a syringe and blow air in the cartridge ..just to agitate it ..and make sure it is not dry .. Insert it back ..repeat the procedure until works ..and also if you have the procedure ..reset it .. http://www.ehow.com/how_6881778_reset-2600n-toner-chip.html
First, make sure that the toner cartridges have enough toner. The toners may be exhausted. In case the toners are ok, the printer requires servicing/ cleaning of lenses and mirrors inside the printer. Please refer here to my earlier solution to this problem, which was very helpful for the users of Color LaserJet 2600n Printer.

Yes you can. Press the arrows until you get in the screen the option system setup and press the check, then press the arrows again until you get print quality and press check, go to replace supplies and press check, press the arrows and you will see the option override out, press check two times and the unit will get back to ready, It might do a calibration but after that the unit will ignore the toner level and will print. By the way you can use color if there is still toner inside the color cartridges
There is an override sequence and it works well. Press the select button (checkmark) to indicate Main menu. Press right-arrow (RA) to select System Setup. Press Select , then RA to Print Quality, Hit select. RA to Replace supplies and hit Select. Now, RA to Override Out and Select. Confirm with Select again. Your 2600n will now run even with an empty toner cartridge.
10.00 error is for the black cartridge. Check the cartridge locker for the black toner cartridge on the right side, is it different from the other? does it moves correctly? check properly. If the locker seems correct, try clean the contacts on toner and opposite HV pins in printer
