Living with 10-yr old appliance for four months. Set Auto Clean for first time last night. Heating element and fan came on, then a soft click-click, click-click for about 40 seconds. Process shut down and the following error code displayed: E1 F5. Tried several times including this morning when the oven was cold. No luck. Seems like latch is not locking. How much to repair? Help!

The cost of fixing this will be anywhere from 50-200 dollars. There are several variables here. The big expense comes in labor. With one this old, I would just live without it or you just have to have a self clean, go ahead and but a new one for about 400-450 dollars. You are looking at the last quarter of the oven's life anyway especially if you use it a lot. Fortunately for you, the oven still works fine without it.

my whirlpool gold locks and unlocks repeatedly when clean cycle is selected. I pulled off the back panel and there appears to be a sensor wired to the lock motor which I assume is faulty. looks like an easy fix - too easy actually. so I am asking the pros!!!
