It's possible that when the needle broke it could have caused the
machine to jump time and would need to be serviced to see if it
needs adjustment.

You may have knocked the machine out of time if the machine does not pick up stitches.

SOURCE: bobbin thread won't catch with needle thread

check that the needle is in the right way round i.e. with cut out on the needle facing into the machine. if this is fine then check that as the needle comes back up from the lowest point that it goes to, that the point on the bobbin case passes just above the hole in the needle, i.e. in the middle of the cut out.(if not it needs re timing) if threaded a small loop should appear at this point for the bottom bobbin to catch if not slacken the top thread and try again.

SOURCE: needle not picking up bottom thread

Remove the needle plate and the bobbin case.

Ensure that the needle is inserted all the way up into the needle clamp.

Set the machine for straight stitch, center needle position.

Slowly turn the handwheel in the normal sewing direction and observe the following hook timing setting:

When the needle reaches it's lowest point and travels up 3.5mm, the point of the hook should be directly behind the needle, or at least within 1 or 2mm.

Another view is as the hook passes the needle, it should pass the needle slightly above the eye of the needle.

If the timing looks good, use some alcohol on a bit of cloth to clean the hook, careful around the tip of the hook as it is very sharp.

If the hook timing is off, you will need to take it to a knowledgeable service person as there are several possible solutions and several other related adjustments which will need to be made.

My needle broke on my janome my lock 203. I replaced it and now it will not make a chain at all. I have tried re threading but it still just feeds the thread through without sewing.

Did you change your needles? If so, be sure and have the presser foot up, now rethread, but, pull the thread like flossing in each guide, this makes sure that it is seated right.

I have a CG 500. First time sewing in 30 yrs. Making a baby quilt, got through most of until the needle broke. I replaced the needle with the suggested type, now it stitch.

You don't specify exactly what is happening when you try to stitch.

Remove all the threads from the machine, RAISE the presser foot and rethread from the beginning (verify the thread path is correct and the bobbin is loaded and thread correctly). If the threads are not connecting, it could be the incorrect needle. However, given that the last needle broke, the machine may have been knocked out of time (happens frequently with broken needles). You can search for sewing machine timing or take it for service.

Broke a needle, replaced it. Now stitching is all wonky. Rethreaded many times, changed both needles. Adjusted upper and lower loopers. Nothing is working. Worked fine until the broken needle

Um, possibly the machine is out of time--happens frequently when needles break. You can search the internet for sewing machine timing or take it for service.

Thread broke on bottom looper the first time out of box i had to try and thread and the tension was still tight The bottom threads were not stiching

I'm going to assume here you're talking about a serger. Unthread the lower looper and the eyes of the needle. Set the lower looper tension to 0. Rethread the lower looper, then the needle eyes. Then reset the lower looper tension (try about half a number lower) and see if it chains. If it won't chain, try replacing the needles.

My needle broke on my serger and i replaced it and now wont make stitch. please help

some times when you break a needle in a sewing machine or
serger it can cause the machine to jump time, it would be a good
idea to have the machine checked for a timing problem or to see
if when the needle broke it caused a problem with another part in
the serger.

Serger won't chain off a stitch. Stitches won't chain and hold to fabric. Added new needle, rethreaded whole machine. Stitches won't connect to fabric or make a chain.

is it possible that the needles are in backwards?
it's very possible that the machine is out of time & would have to be taken to a sewing machine repair shop to be retimed

Elna Lock L1 won't keep thread chain

for a manual try elna customer service
as for the needle, check to see if it's inserted correctly in the needle holder
the needle must be pushed all the way up into the needle holder--
the flat side goes to the back side of the machine
you also mentioned that you broke a needle, when a needle is broken some times it can cause the machine to go out of time, which means it has to be taken to a sewing machine repair shop & be retimed,,
and it needs to be serviced.
