When I press ANY button on the remote control, the DVD disc tray opens or closes. Sometimes the drawer opens partway, hesitates, then travels back & forth, then closes. I've tried new batteries + turning the player on/off with the physical switch on the unit + pressing various remote button combinations. All (including on/off power buttons on the remote) = tray opens or closes.
Do I need to buy a new remote control? Can I buy one? Is the player itself defective? (It is out of warranty.)

My remote control to my Curtis 1072 DVD player doesn't work at all. I've done all the things to troubleshoot potential problems. The remote just seems dead. I would like to know where to purchase a new remote or find the name of a universal remote that could work with Curtis 1072.
