Try cleaning the little fans that keep the bulb cool, the temp sensor will shut it off so not to damage the bulb , the winning sound may be the fan going bad or not working like it should.

removed both fans and cleaned all the dust. plugged the tv back in and saw the fans working. but the problem still is there.

73 mitsubishi dlp tv 73737 has sound but no picture with red light in frount

You need a new lamp. The red light means the lamp failed to turn on.
You can find cheap ones on ebay for about $40. If you go to best buy they will charge an arm and a leg. You can change the lamp yourself and it will take less than 15 mins to do. The only tools youll need are a phillips screw driver and maybe a flat head.

you need to replace the lamp inside the DLP TV. they are about $400 or so depending on your are. i would google the best price and find the must trust worthy TV repair place or call best buy.
