It is more than likely the cable that is behind the buttons. We are going to be adding this repair service to our website today. I recommend getting a full diagnostic however to find out any and all problems with your PSP.

You can visit and pay by a SSL encrypted checkout through Paypal. You don't even need to have a PSP required. If you have any questions you can call or email us. All of our contact information is on our website - psp repair.

After pressing the audio button on my psp the screen would go black and white from bottom to top then would go back to normal what i tried is to take out the memory card and tr to press the audio...

Hi, I've had the same problems for about a month now. I have a psp fat (psp-1000) with cfw. 5.50. I was playing ZHP unlosing ranger when the same thing happened.
I use the lowest brightness setting to lengthen game play time. I keep using the audio button (The one you hold and turns the sounds mute or back.. right?) for the game then when i reset my game (press home and start the gameover..) the brightness suddenly keeps on changing even making the whole screen black. After 5 minutes? it stops but then when i press the down or square, triangle button the brightness changes sometimes thats the only thing the button does.. i found a temporary fix for this, i put it sleep mode then turn it on again and it stops.. the buttons go back to normal, for a while.
It goes on and on even with other games. It just stops after 10 minutes later or more than starts happening again everytime the brightness or audio button is pressed.
We scanned it for viruses on a computer and it just kept on blinking everytime it responded to the scan. No virus were found but after that when we disconnected it from the computer the brightness problem stopped for a good long time.. we avoided pressing the brightness and audio buttons. but recently its happening again.
and now just got worse. I was playing Socom Fireteam, and when you accidentaly go to the start menu, you have to press "select" to exit and continue the game. But the "select" button wont work!
so i quit the game and startover.. when this happened for the 3rd time. When i pressed "home" button and was asked if i really wanted to exit the game i couldnt move to "yes" and couldnt press the "O" or "X" buttons.
So i turned off my psp and when it went back on, I couldnt press anything anymore. except, the volume buttons and select (the vsh menu appears)
I searched for help from the internet, found "disable your vsh menu" remedy.
It worked! but when i played the game, the "cwcheat" menu keeps on appearing (seplugin that appears when you press select button). It wouldnt stop >.<
So we disabled that too.
Now playing God of War Ghost of Sparta, and one part, the start menu kept on appearing! we'd close it so that we could push one of the levers in the game but then it pauses the game again.. it stopped after a while. then it happened again only slight.
Found a comment on a "select button problem" and it said that it was the:
"parts that were Ribbon style, with it was the start and select button and the volume/sound" he had that parts?
found same problems around the net, some posts from 2009.
found decent posts and solutions here:
http://forums.qj.net/psp-general-help/151111-psp-slim-start-button-stuck.html
the best one says buy a new "flex bar" or "home bar". It goes by many names, but it's the metal bar that has all of the bottom row buttons on it (home -> start) It's usually under $10 USD and obviously the right thing to do.
got another comment that says it worked from him when he bought one himself.
Glad I found others, and that I could share this.. wish it makes things better.
Hope it works out for all of us!
Another thing, Merry Christmas!

Hey, i have a problem with my sony PSP when i start my PSP the green power light is on but there is nothing to display and the memory stick light keeps flickering too , please help ???

Hello there

You'll need to hard reset your PSP and restore it to its factory settings. Once this is done, your PSP should work perfectly.

Hold the power button on the right side of your PSP down until the device completely powers off. Wait at least five seconds after the power is off before proceeding to the next step.

Press and hold the Select and Start buttons located in the bottom right corner of the PSP.

Press and hold the Square and Triangle buttons (located on the directional pad) while continuing to hold the Select and Start buttons.

Press the power button while holding these four buttons. When the flash (logo) screen appears, you can release the four buttons and your PSP will be reset to its factory settings and the screen will no longer be blank.

Luckly since you have the 1000 it wont be anything to fix. just take off the front faceplate and clean it out. it sounds hard but really is not. here is a video of a kid doing it on youtube

When I hit home it mutes my PSP

So you are having problem with your HOME button?

Try this (you're working with M33 CFW installed device, please note that risk of bricked is 50%. It's recommended that technicians service are needed.):
1. Get the latest M33 firmware update from http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/1570
3. And there's guide that will bring you to the firmware update.
4. Read the instructions carefully and you'll successfully update your PSP to the latest firmware.
5. Please note that before you upgrading your system your battery must be fully charged until 100%.

Any questions? Feel free to ask me =]

Select and home button malfunction.

I used to have the same problem. Unfortunately, this is because your PSP has become physically damaged. The music button has been permanently locked in the pressed position, and whenever you hit Home, it thinks you are releasing the Music button, which mutes the system. This specific problem I have dealt with personally. I assume the other two are similar in nature. Unfortunately, all you can do about this is to get it fixed (somehow...), by a new psp, or learn to deal with it :(

If fixing and dealing with it is not an option, why not use it as an excuse to pick up a psp go when it drops? or if the lack of UMD is a turnoff, maybe a slim (if you don't have that already)

Sorry dude.

PSP start button and select button not work

  1. Connect the PSP to your PC with a USB cable. (about $10: buy a USB cable for your PSP)
  2. Press the "home" button on the PSP (it's a tiny button to the lower left of the screen) then use the left-right directional buttons to find "Settings", then the up-down buttons to find "USB Connection" on the PSP.
  3. Press the "X" button (you got it, the round button with the "X" on it) and your PSP should display "USB Connection".
  4. In a moment or two your computer should tell you that a new USB device has been connected, then show you a new generic hard drive, usually E: or F:
  5. Click on the drive letter that corresponds to the PSP unit.
  6. Now create a new folder on that drive and name it "psp".
  7. Within the new "psp" folder create another folder, and name it "music".
  8. Copy your desired mp3 files into the new "music" folder.
  9. When you're done copying your desired music tracks, press the "O" button on the PSP to get out of USB connect mode.
