It should be on a label on the bottom, listed as MAC, HW, or HW Address.

If not, go into SETUP, WAN, MAC ADDRESS and it should show what your MAC Address is.

It will be a series of 12 hex numbers, either all together or separated like 12-34-56-78-9a-bc

Dear Assistants I have a router linksys compact wirless - g broadband router. model number WRT 54GC ver. 2 and i have a problem with it I cant find anywhere the WAN MAC Adress of the Linksys What to do???...

The Linksys has a device MAC address and the router issues IP addresses to the computers that are connected to it.
There is no WAN MAC address. Your ISP issues to your cable or DSL modem an unique IP address and you connect this modem into the WAN port on the Linksys router.
You enter the routers configuration address -
http://192.168.1.1
and login and configure the router.
To secure your wireless network from unauthorized access, please click on this link and follow my instructions :-

How to configure a Router?

How to determine the WAN configuration or Interntet configuration of a SOHO Router?
1. Connect the computer to the Modem via Ethernet cable. Make sure you are able to going online 2. After confirming you are online. Go to Start->Run. Type "cmd" on the Run window. 3. Type "ipconfig" on the command prompt or Black window or DOS window 4. You will be getting IP address,Subnet Mask and Default Gateway
There are 4 possibilities of IP address you can get
i)Public IP address under PPP adapter. -Router has to be configured in PPPoE mode to get a WAN IP. This will require a Username and Password from ISP ii) Public IP address under PPP adapter and Private IP address under Ethernet adapter -Router has to be configured in PPPoE mode to get a WAN IP. This will require a Username and Password from ISP iii)Public IP address under Ethernet adapter -Router has to be configured in Dynamic IP or DHCP mode to get a WAN IP -If it is still not getting a WAN IP address. * Click Mac clone on the router's WAN configuration * Power-cycle modem and Router. iv)Just a Private IP address under Ethernet adapter -Router has to be configured in Dynamic IP or DHCP mode to get a WAN IP -If it is still not getting a WAN IP address. * Power-cycle Modem and router.
After determining the WAN mode, it is time to configure the Router
1. Connect the Modem to the WAN port of the router. Connect the computer to the LAN port 2. Go to Start->Run. Type "cmd" on the Run window. 3. Type "ipconfig" on the command prompt or Black window or DOS window 4. You will be getting IP address,Subnet Mask and Default Gateway. The Default Gateway will the IP address of your router 5. Open a Web browser and type http://192.168.1.1(where this is the default IP of the router. This will be different from each manufacturer) on the address bar. 6. Go to WAN settings or Internet settings and select the options based on the above mentioned possibilities

(F5D6230-3) Wireless Router: i need to know how to change my mac address on my ...

In your browser's address bar, type 192.168.2.1.

By default, leave the password blank.

On the Belkin setup page, go to Internet WAN.Then go to MAC address. You may close your computer's MAC address or type a specific WAN MAC address, if required by your ISP.

I hope this helps!

My router is not obtaining an ip address through WAN port. I use my rouders WAN MAC Address to identify my rouder to my ISP provider. I can see this MAc address under Internet Connection on the rouder...

Try using the MAC address of the ethernet adapter and clone it to your router. Your ISP might be recognizing the MAC address of the LAN card of the computer.

To get the mac address of the computer go to the command prompt and type ipconfig/all.

You may also need to contact your ISP to clear arp in their end, so that they will detect that you have a router. I hope this helps!

Connecting modem to WAN port then any lan port to computer provides no connection. straight from modem to comp is ok.

Make sure comp lan and wan are both activated, Make sure the ethernet cable from modem is plugged into the input slot and NOT 1,2,3,or 4

Then after all is connected, unplug main modem for 10 seconds, plug back in, then do the same with wireless router. 5 minutes later, you should be good to go.

You can access the software of you router by opening up an internet page, and type 192.168.1.1 and hit enter. It should bring you right straight to the router's firmware/software where you can change any settings if desired.

If it asks for username and password, the default is usually admin for both. (see owners manual to be exact)

Iam having an issue with the dlink router , getting 0.0.0.0 ip address for wan

Hi, first establish that the wires are plugged in to the correct ports, WAN port on the back of the router is in the internet port on the ADSL (assuming that is what your using).reboot the ADSL modem and wait for the light to settle, the link light should be solid. The ethernet light does not need to be solid, and the Act or activity light should be blinking, Now go to the command prompt and type in
> ipconfig /all. you should get a WAN ip. Otherwise, check if your service provider needs the MAC address of the router to establish it on the network...Telus used to need this. If this does not work, take the wire from your computer and plug it in directly to the back of the modem, this should get an WAN IP so you know that the router may need a bit of tweeking and a reboot of the hardware may be in order to sync everthing up again,,goodluck
