SOURCE: Ask for replace battery, even though the battries are brand new once.

Well... I hate to say this but...

If we can't even get the camera to turn on and stay on, then there really is nothing we can do to even help troubleshoot the issue.

There are only two questions I can ask at this point. Simple ones.

1.) Do you have fresh, new batteries in the camera with the correct polarity? (Are they put in correctly according to the diagram on the inside of the battery cover?)

2.) Are you making sure that the battery compartment cover is firmly secured in place?

Otherwise... There isn't much we can do. These are the types of issues that only Canon would be able to address.

If you guys have bought this camera within the last year (365 days) then it is still under warranty. Take FULL advantage of that fact while you can!

Please contact Canon for further assistance. Hopefully they will go ahead and replace it... But they may choose to service it and send it back to you instead.

As long as they fix it though, right?

Here is Canon's USA support information.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For toll-free technical support, please call 1 (800) 828-4040 during regular business hours (currently Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 midnight. EST, Saturday 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m., excluding holidays).
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Good luck with that... And here is a tip for you...

If you ARE out of warranty, get around that by telling them that you DID buy it within the last 9 months and that you do NOT have proof of purcahse. If they insist on asking for it, then "try" to look for it and once again inform them that you do NOT have it.

They can't really dispute the warranty at that point if they can't prove that you DIDN'T but it within the last 9 months.

I hate to work the system like that... But I paid $400 for mine. I'll be damned if I'm going to be out the money for it! Am I right?

Anyway... That is the best advice I can give you, unfortunately.

Call them as soon as you can! Get it replaced!

Good luck.

SOURCE: Camera says replace batteries even when fresh ones are installed

Sir/Maam,

Have you tried using new batteries? How long have you been using the old batteries? As far as i know, the longer you use a rechargeable batteries, the shorter its life(compared to the first time you used it).

Try using new batteries, if the problem is still there, the camera my have the problem. But if the camera works fine, then your old battery is defective.

Keep me update, hope i helped you. Thanks.

SOURCE: Powershot A640 Could Not Be

Hello

The problem is that the lens has become stuck in the barrel after dropping it. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.

Use these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.

Firstly , try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.

Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera.

Look at the lens , and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).

Try gently pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.

Another way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the camera is enough to get things going again.

Try hitting your camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of your hand.

Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair center for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to replace the camera.

If it is still under warranty I would suggest you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

Hope the advise is useful.

Regards
Andrea

SOURCE: Camera keeps saying to replace batteries even

Are they the correct type of batteries? Use only AA-size Alkaline or Canon AA-size NiMH batteries.

Film camera turns off when I press the shutter button.

There are a few potential reasons why your camera might be turning off when you press the shutter button:
  1. Battery issues: Even if you just replaced the battery, there could be a problem with the connection or the battery itself. Try cleaning the battery contacts and making sure the battery is properly inserted.
  2. Jammed lens: If the lens is jammed or stuck, it could be causing the camera to shut off as a safety measure. Try gently turning the lens to see if it moves freely or if it's stuck.
  3. Faulty circuitry: If there is an issue with the camera's circuitry, it could be causing it to shut off when you press the shutter button. This would likely require professional repair.
It's also possible that the problem is related to the new roll of film you inserted. Make sure the film is properly loaded and that the camera is advancing the film properly. If you continue to experience problems, it may be best to take the camera to a professional for repair or to consider purchasing a new camera.

After I changed a battery on R0614ZM TERNER watch, the display went berzerck and then blank altogether. Any ideas at all?

Some watches have a "reset" button or combination of buttons that must be pushed to clear all the electronic registries on the watch's little computer after you replace the battery. You might try taking off the watch back and seeing if your watch has this requirement. Even then, it's not always a perfect solution. Last week, I replaced the battery in a watch that had been dead for some time. The watch appeared to come alive again when I put the new battery in, but when I pushed the reset pin (on this movement, it was on the watch movement itself, next to the battery), the entire watch went dead. Nothing I did would wake it up. I removed the battery, waited 30 seconds, then re-inserted the battery. Problem solved; the watch powered up, and I was able to set the time and access all functions again.
On some digital watches from the 1980s, after replacing the batteries, you were supposed to push and hold all the external buttons for a few seconds to reset the watch. I don't think manufacturers still make watches that respond to this, but it is easier to try than taking off the back and re-installing the battery.

Hi,
Please check the auto programmed ON/OFF on your remote commander. May be the auto programming is running that run your air conditioner all time without stop. Check also your temperature setting. To hard reset your remote , remove the battery and wait for 1 hour and replace the battery. If your remote has reset button just go has it reset.
