Search online or on Ebay under your model number and you will find allot of screens available for it. Also if you pull the screen itself out there will be a sticker on the backside of it that has the OEM part number on it.
Step 1: Your trusty iPod has been a close and reliable friend for a long time but one morning only the sound of air comes through the headphones. The likely culprit is a loose or broken headphone jack that is in need of repair. Rather than spend an exorbitant amount of money to have someone fix it you can easily make the repair on your own and have your iPod friend back. Read on to learn how to fix a broken headphone jack for a fifth generation 30GB or 60GB iPod video.
Open the iPod case with a small flathead screwdriver by slipping it under the centerline of the case. You will find a series of clips you have to release in order for the case to open up about an inch. Locate the headphone jack connection and verify that there are no broken wires. Fix broken wires quickly by twisting the wires back together and wrapping with electrical tape. Test the iPod for sound by connecting your headphones to the jack. Replace the wires completely if you find static coming from the iPod jack. Fold a business card twice so that it wants to unfold and slip it into the case over the blue sponge. This creates the pressure needed to hold the jack in place and allow a solid connection. Push the case together without engaging the clips on the side and test to make sure the jack is now working. Try a thicker business card or fold the first one again to get enough pressure onto the jack connection if the first card didn't fix the problem. Press the case fully together until the clips click into place. Use extra care when inserting your headset to ensure the jack remains in place. You could have unseated the video cables inside it. These are really easy to re-seat if you have the tools to do it. This happened with my iPhone, and I watched a bunch of videos on youtube and found a lot of useful tutorials on how to fix it. The video cables kind of 'plug' into different slots inside the iPod, so they can come lose or disengaged after being dropped. If you are comfortable taking your iPod apart you could fix this in about 10 minutes. If it's not the video cables, it would probably be a broken digitizer which again is a doable self fix. A little more time consuming and you will have to order a new digitizer online. You can find them all over the internet, a good place to start will be youtube so you can actually watch someone fixing one so you can see how to fix yours and ebay for parts is a good place to try.
Is it the glass or the display beneath the glass? Cost will depend upon which of these is broken. There are many mail-in services available online, ifixit.com comes to mind. If you are a do it yourselfer, there are tons of videos and step by step instructions out there as well. I recently purchased an LCD display from ebay for an ipod touch, took me about 15 minutes to R&R the part for the device after reviewing videos on youtube.
I don't know if you fixed it already this iPod sound trouble, but I got ot also and found how to fix this trouble. In fact there's a setup to do and mention in the User Manual (page 89 on the english one) the AV1 config should be selected as iPod
Using an iPod (iPod) Starting procedure Connect your iPod. No sound or video output if iPod is selected as AV source, check the setting in “AV1 Input” on the “AV System Settings” menu.
Your lcd screen is broken. when you pushed it the rest of the screen started to break up, the area that is black is broken, I supose this could be fixed somehow but I imagine it would be very difficult if not impossible at home.
Basicly you need to replace your screen.
if you have warranty you can contact apple for support but since apple considers broken screens abuse they might not fix it, so you might have to buy one from ebay for examble or take it to a local professional who could do the job.
Check this website out. It should provide you with information on how to fix it. Or, you can always take it in to an Apple store, and they should be able to fix it/send it away to be fixed for you.
this sounds like you have left the ipod in a hot car or in the sun too long, if so there is not a true fix for this problem. You can always take it in for a fix at an apple store.
