sounds like there's something caught on the ink cartridge head. go to the canon ink cartridge information webs site to see if there is an answer there or in the manual that came with the printer. good luck

Resetting the Waste Ink Volume Counter 1) Enter SERVICE MODE.--- By pressing Menu-Copy-# 2) Select TEST MODE. 3) Select [8] PRINTER TEST in TEST MODE. 4) Select 3. [EEPROM CLEAR]. 5) Select 0. [INK COUNT]. 6) Press the [OK] key. 7) Press the [Stop/Reset] key (returning to the state of 3)), and then press the [ON/OFF] key.
Skip step (6) since there is no [OK] key on F30 printers. Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

Double-click print centreicon.
when it opens up, select I560, then click configure.
click I560 then click select
click the down arrow to select test print.
nozzle, alignment etc...
run the tests try resolve the problem.

Driver could be corrupt. Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off.
I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with
the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the
printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.

Follow this procedure to clean the BJ cartridge print head:
1. Press

3. Use or to select the [HEAD CLEANING]..
4. Press .
The MultiPASS cleans the print head.
This worked for me on an F60 and someone else on an F30.

It could be due to "waste tank full" alarm; you may need to reset the waste tank counter.
I found a reset sequence for a MP730 printer in this website that works for F30 as well. Try:
Resetting the Waste Ink Volume Counter
1) Enter SERVICE MODE.---
By pressing Menu-Copy-#
2) Select TEST MODE.
3) Select [8] PRINTER TEST in TEST MODE.
4) Select 3. [EEPROM CLEAR].
5) Select 0. [INK COUNT].
6) Press the [OK] key.
7) Press the [Stop/Reset] key (returning to the state of 3)), and then press the [ON/OFF] key.
Skip step (6) since there is no [OK] key on F30 printers.
