Question about Jandy Laars LX Pool Heater / 400,000 BTU / Natural Gas

2 Answers

My Heater is leaking water from underneath.

I have a Jandy Laars LX pool Heater that is 5 years old. The heater is leaking and it looks like a heater core leak as opposed to a gasket. I works fine and is only lightly used for occasional spa use. Can the core be replaced as opposed to spending thousands of dallars on a new one?

There are different heat exchangers available. Go with a Cupro Nickel if you are using a salt chlorine generator or if you have a tendency to over acid at times. Standard copper heat exchangers are less durable.

Yes you can replace the core but you should check all the other components to be sure the chlorine hasn,t destroyed them.

Water flows out the condensation tube even when the heater is not runiing causing the pool to leak down. The heater is 4 years old. Thank you.

It sounds like there is a leak in your system. The condensation tube is to drain off the water because one of the byproduct of combustion is water and it condenses on the heat exchanger. Since it is only 4 years old it might be under warrantee for this issue. The problem might be simple but could be very expensive if the heat exchanger has a leak.

I have water leaking inside the heater above the burners on the left side. where is it most likely coming from and where can i have it fixed

This is most likly your heat exchanger and you will probally need a new one. It will be expensive and you will probally have issues with some other components. This is almost always caused by chemical damage. If your heater is very old it is probally time for a new heater.
Sorry for the bad news.

Noticed water leaking a lot from bottom of unit. Looked like a pretty good leak. Unit is 9 years old. Leaks when Pump is running

More than likely the heat exchanger. Has the pH and Total Alkalinity been low? Check the Pressure/Temp relief valve, thermostat probe, high limit switches, etc. first though...
