Question about Arris Wireless G Broadband Router (wr850g)

Can't access WR80G. Sniffers detect it ESSID, signal, etc. Leds green. bt doesn't comunicate.

Can't access WR80G. Sniffers detect it ESSID, signal, etc. Leds green. But doesn't comunicate. I could save ethercap or etherreal captions and send them attached. I had reflashed it some times. I had recovery from broken state by reflashing it first whith 4.03 firmware, later with 6.14 and whit freifunk in the last instance. It had bricked before, after my trying to recover deffault settings. But now, I select dhcp in wan config. (freifunk) since I did think to use it like a second node in a two moto's net. I aplied changes without change the lan addres previously. I think that could have been an error. I have reseted it some times since then.

Thanks you both for trying, only a few hours after my asking.

I know manuals. I had handled default IP addresses. My PC has actually 192.168.10.2 and is conected to another identical router managing several pc's routing.

I suspect my speech is not clear enough as I'm not english speaker but reader.

If it's not an abuse I could upload files from etherreal sniffing when pc is cable conected to the unaccesible router. If you or anymore can analyse.

Any activities are detected between the own router's MAC addresses but the PC eth adapter MAC is absent all over those captions.

When attempting a dhcp conections to router, the result is limited or null conectivity and a 169.x.x.x ip address.

No. I don't know how to ping mi pc card from my own pc.

    It's posssible?
what could thatt be usable to?

    Router doesn't respond ping.

But snifer software can detect some traffic. Reports show the respective router's MAC's.

Smooth_Gecko,Do you know how to understand that reports. They can be shown in plain text.. Thanks you

P.S. My ethernet card isn't gone.
I used it to sniff whith etereal connecting pc-router by cable ports 1,2,3,4 and wan port. O.K.?

  • Anonymous Aug 07, 2007

Nothing have hapened. both Genius2k4 and Smooth_Gecko solutions asumes I can communicate with router using an IP address.
I suspect its possible sending a firmware to MAC address, using fttp or another protocol.
    Router is not responding pings.

  • Anonymous Sep 05, 2007

I did ping -t 192.168.1.1 in a dos window for many hours without sucess. Suddenly it begin to respond. I had reflashed by using another DOS window, while it was responding, as I had learn previously, and Voila! it is working now.

Thank you guys for your helping me.

Try setting your PC to DHCP in your network connection settings, plug in ethernet cable & reboot it.

The authentification is where I would look next. I chased a limited or no connectivity problem for a while the other day, and it turned out to be in there.
Can you ping the ethernet card and the router?

  • Anonymous Aug 03, 2007

Can you ping the card in the PC, from the PC?
I am getting the feeling your ethernet card is gone.
You should be able to ping your card and the router as long as you have a cable plugged in.

  • Anonymous Aug 04, 2007

Quote "My PC has actually 192.168.10.2"
From "run" on the main menu, just type "cmd" to get a console.
    Type "ping 192.168.10.2"
    and hit enter.

Then try pinging your routers IP address.
Until you can ping the router reliably, nothing will work.

If you have set it to dhcp on wan only then your local pcs will not be issued an IP address unless dhcp over lan is enable you could try setting a static ip on your local pc but it has to be in the same range as your router, your routers default IP address is 192.168.10.1 so set your pcs ip to 192.168.10.12 and of course try talking to your router via the ethernet cable not just wireless. How do you turn on closed caption on apex digital flat screen tv?

not all sets have the capability, not all programmes have captions.

This tell you how to turn OFF, but just choose ON.
http://captionmax.com/resources/turn-off-captions/

and I found this

Best Answer: There are two types of closed captions; analog and digital. It's possible that you turned one off and not the other. Some sets will only allow you to access the menus for the type of signal you are watching so make sure you are tuned to the offending channel when you access the menus.

Also, you might want to check other devices that the signal may go through on it's way to the TV like cable boxes and DVD players. Sometimes those have closed caption decoders, too.

Can't take off closed captions, even when impress the off button

Since trying at set did not work you must have a box for signal in the line, captions can only come from the set itself or from a box hooked for signal etc look in both menus.

How do you remove closed captioning? I have a 4yr old 50" plasma tv. Today the captioning just popped up and I can't figure out how to get rid of it

Hi

1* Use the CAPTION button repeatedly to select Caption Off, EZ Mute, or On.
* EZ Mute shows the selected captions option (if available on program) when the TV sound is muted.
2* Press the ENTER button to save.

Caption Tips

* Not all TV broadcasts include closed caption signals.

* Sometimes TV stations broadcast four different caption signals

on the same channel. By selecting CC 1 to CC 2, you

can choose which signal you view. CC 1 is usually the signal

with the captions, while Another mode might show demonstration

or programming information.

* Your TV might not receive caption signals normally in the following
situations.
OK.

I can't turn the closed captioning OFF on my insgnia flat screen tv model NS-L CD37. i have a universal rca remote & the closed captioning won't go away - HELP !

The problem is that the universal remote is not sending the correct IR signal to your units IR receiver, regaurdless whether or not you turned the captions on with the universal, it is unable to send the signal to turn them off, if you have a menu button on your unit you could try accessing the closed caption option that way, alternatively you can do a system reset, if you can access that menu option, you may need to do a tv retune to get your stations, but the closed captioning should be off. I hope this helps. Good luck.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Two things that will cause the “No Signal” message to come up are - no data available for closed captioning and a weak signal input. Your TV is in the Closed Captioning Mode. To turn it off simply bring up the on screen menu and scroll down to the part that says closed captioning and turn this function off! With the closed captioning block displayed and the program being viewed is not sending out closed captioning signals the TV will display, No signal!

If this doesn’t resolve your issue then the problem may be with the processor failing and it is causing a random read of the EPROM to display the not available message. I’ll suggest you to run the HDMI from the PVR (personal video recorder) directly to the TV (mute the TV), and then run the optical audio from the PVR directly into the receiver's optical in. The closed captioning is something that is addressed in analog broadcasts, but not necessarily digital broadcasts

Try using Component cables if this doesn’t make a difference. After using components cables the issue will be resolved. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

Remote wont switch of unit

2 possible problems:

1. The remote is not sending a signal. You can check this if you have a camera phone. If you look through the view finder of you phone in camera mode at the Infrared LEDs of you remote and press a button, the LEDs shoud flash if its ok. If they don't flash, I'd check your batteries. Also, if you have an energy saving light globe between you and the a/c when you press a button, sometimes they can interfere with the signal.

2. The remote receiver board is faulty in your a/c.
If this is the case, you will need a technician to come look at it.

My laptop shows the wireless network but says no internet access

I will require more information here but
1. go to the Windows orb ( at the bottom left of the screen ) if this is Windows 7 and click
2. In the "Search programs and files" type "cmd" this will bring up the DOS prompt with a flashing cursor.
2. type at the line ipconfig (space) /ALL this will let you know if your router is sending a signal, if not your router need to renew the IP address, which you will need to refer to your manual for the instruction to "release" /renew " the IP for your network.
3. Your wireless card is getting a signal but is not communicating with the router that it sees but may not have permission from that router.
4. check also the ESSID to see if you need to loging with a password. This may also be the cause of no connectivity.

Wirless driver for linux

hi linksys doenot have the wireless drivers for linux but you can try the following steps:
-download the windows drivers. Extract them to c:\temp\linksys
- Now burn them or put them on a media or somthing so you can transfer these files over to linux (note: linux wont beable to extract the exe file)
- Download ndiswrapper for linux located at http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=93482
- Now make sure you have all the development tools installed in fedora
- Now download dhcpcd from http://www.phystech.com/ftp/dhcpcd-1.3.22-pl4.tar.gz
- log into your linux box as root
- Now make make sure all the files (*gz files, and linksys driver files) are in the root partition on the linux machine (/root/wireless_driver) if "wireless_driver" is not there make the directory (which u will have to do) "mkdir /root/wireless_driver"
- now at the command prompt (terminal) go into the "wireless_driver" directory "cd /root/wireless_driver"
- now type "tar xvfpz ndiswrapper-0.12.tar.gz"
- "cd ndiswrapper-0.12"
- "make install"
- "cd .."
- "tar xvfpz dhcpcd-1.3.22-pl4.tar.gz"
- "cd dhcpcd-1.3.22"
- "./configure"
- "make && make install"
- "cd .."
- "source /etc/profile" (note: you might want to edit root's .bashrc and add source /etc/profile there, some how fc3 doesnt have root source /etc/profile for some reason)
- "cd /root/wireless_driver/WMP54GS_20040423/Drivers"
- "ndiswrapper -i BCMWL5.inf"
- "ls /etc/ndiswrapper/bcmwl5" u should get a list of alot file in here
- "modprobe ndiswrapper"
- "dmesg wlan0" show see wlan0 if its there your good if not then somthings wrong - please post everything thats comes out of dmesg "dmesg > demout"
- now for a little script open your favorite text editor and copy the following code:
#Sample ndiswrapper script - By: Derrick Rose
#Load ndiswrapper module
echo "Starting Ndiswrapper Driver..."
/sbin/modprobe ndiswrapper
#Setup Essid
echo "Setting up ESSID..."
iwconfig wlan0 essid "your essid here"
#Setup WEP Key if you have one
#Uncomment below for WEP
#echo "Setting up KEY..."
#iwconfig wlan0 key yourkeyhere
#Setting up DHCP on wlan0
echo "Starting DHCP on wlan0 [ 10 sec timeout ]"
dhcpcd -t 10 wlan0

- the script above will setup your wireless card for. Now save this to a file in roots directory (/root) called wireless
- "chmod +x wireless"
- to run manually type "./wireless" as root
- If you want to automaticly load on startup do the following
- "cat wireless >> /etc/rc.d/rc.local"
restart the computer..adn then check

Get closed captions on some channels, but not all, even though it is CC

RCA have choices for different methods of CC in user CC menu. Labelled T1, T2, etc. . Different selections are for different types of close caption. Tune to a signal (on your other TV) that has closed caption working.

Tune your RCA to the same signal. Change the T1,T2, etc settings until the closed caption for your signal appears.

If this doesn't work, try connecting analog video or VHF channel 3 (or other specified channel) to the TV. check CC. When TV stations, sat channels, sat receivers, cable boxes etc, convert analog video signals to HD, problems can result. Some equipment causes RCA TVs to do unexpected things with sound and closed caption.

If you use RF or video output, old analog video may look better on CH3 or video than on HD input and the CC will work more consistently. Watch HD signals on HD input, Analog signals on Video in or through the TV tuner . Many HD channels and programs are converted analog video and look poor on TV HD inputs.
